I am not sure if I have pernicious or if I am just B12 deficient due to gas and air but I inject B12 and find it very helpful.

However I have polycycstic overys and although \I have avoided it in the past think I might need to start taking metformin due to my weight issues which are serious. Will this matter if I am injecting anyway?

I imagine more important to keep up b12.

My daughter has this condition on top of everything else.

Has b12 injections and daily folate is needed in her case. 🤔

Huge weight gain.

Then another vicious circle starts .

Weight gain also ftom other medication.

She has researched an insulin resistant diet.

Foods are restricted anyhow to stay as well as possible.

Worth looking into a sensible food regime that will help you with thus medical condition.

Ask for a referral to a dietician.

You also will get a full nutritional blood screen that way.

They won't have all the answers but csn support you.

If you are b12 deficient other vitamin and minerals may be 'out of whack'

We all on here struggle with that.

Be interested how you get on .

Thank you. I dont know you can get nutricianal screen via dieticians. i know my vit D, folate, ferretin and B12 are good I get it tested every six months with my thyroid which is also iffy.

No need to worry about the detrimental effect Metformin has on Vitamin B12 if you are injecting . . .. Hope that you will not need to take it though .

Just wondering if you’ve had full thyroid testing, Hectorsmum, not just TSH, as many with PA/B12 deficiency also have thyroid disease and vice versa - lots of good advice re. tests etc. on thyroid forum.

I am fully tested and have genetic thing that stops me converting T4 to T3. I take T3 and some levo. All in hand thyroid wise. Thank you.

My daughter has suffered with polycystic ovaries for many years and like yourself has gained a huge amount of weight. She like yourself is now considering metformin.

She was getting nowhere with drs and gynae consultant and now is seen by a private Dr ( not cheap ). This Dr sujested she were tested for oestrogen dominance whish once again she did private. The test showed indeed she has oestrogen dominance which could explain the weight gain and binging.

As Nackerpan has suggested keep up with the B12

Google it you might find it of interest.
