Hello, I have had most of my symptoms resolved with b12 injections, however, I seem to still have pretty bad back pain when I sit for too long. For example, whenever I wake up my back aches to a certain extent that is not normal. Has anyone else dealt with this and how have you managed to deal with it?

PA and Severe Back pain
stiffnsss after long periods of activitiy is probably the norm, It may well be something to do with weakness of muscles in the lower back
few exercises you could try

If the pain is sharp and is the result of specific movements then it could be a trapped nerve - usuall recommendations for that are hot and cold compresses, NSAIDs (may not be the best thing if you have stomach issues) and continue with exercising.
Physio does help. I've got to build up muscle strength .
I ache at night which wakes me up. I find if I get up and walk about fir a bit do a few stretches I go bs k to sleep better than if I just lay there. Akso make sure you have a good sleeping position. Pillow between tour legs can help. As can not too high pillows.
When I get up I'm quite robotic until I get going .Hope you find some improvements with the right exercises .
Pleased to hear b12 injections sorted out alot of other things for you.
Chiropractor helped me alot along with using both heat and ice packs over a period of time, have also found a Tens machine to be of use once I can stand the pain of trying to do a little exercise
Hope you find something that works for you
Take care and best wishes
I never had this problem until I got PA so I find it strange I have it now. I have had every test under the sun including CT, MRI, bloods and energy a scan at the department of nuclear medicine where I had due injected into me! I’m doing SI every two days in the hope it will go. I feel like it is a nerve issue but when I had deep tissue massage at the chiropractor he said my muscles were full of knots. I think they keep on tightening and might be part of the body’s natural defence system (fight or flight). I do find the chiropractor helps. A rheumatologist told me it was fibromyalgia but I assume that’s because everything else was negative, thankfully, and he needed today something. Frankly I think that’s a load of tosh. I tested magnesium, selenium, zinc and my GP (in Scotland) ran a full mineral test, iron, fat soluble vitamins and b vitamins and all fine so I don’t supplement.
I’m saying all of this just so you know you’re not alone if you draw a blank.
Hope you find something to help
This won’t be B12 related - it’s muscular - when did you change mattress last
Hi. I do not know how old you are but am 67 and I have low back pain and pressure when I walk longer distances. I too had hoped that the B12 injections would help lessen this problem too, but it was not to be. I do the back stretches in the morning and they help me get going, but the pain and pressure returns when I walk longer distances, by that I mean a few blocks. I saw my doctor and he ordered an MRI and I was told I have lumbar stenosis inside the spinal canal and I have some build up of bone in the foramen, where the nerves and blood vessels come out of the spinal cord. They say these problems are mild. I have done some reading on the subject of lumbar stenosis and they recommend doing the exercises 2 times a day, soaking in a warm tub, and trying a back brace. I got a back brace at a pharmacy I trust, and they measured me, for a proper fit. I cannot tell you how much the back brace has helped me. When I am wearing it there is no more pain or pressure and I can walk as far as I want without any problems. It is such a relief. I don't know if this is the answer for you, perhaps you could ask you doctor. Without the pain, my back muscles relax, so there's no knotting up. I hope you find the answer for you, best of luck.
there is a little underestimated joint called the Sacroiliac Joint. It can cause sciatica type pain and lower back pain. It is yet another thing that gets mistaken for something else. A good physical therapist can help a lot. Nsaids gave me kidney failure in 2006, so i take acetaminophen, but everything has side-effects of some kind.
