success for now

afternoon everyone from England.

Because so many of you were very kind enough to reply when I said this dreadful nurse was questioning cutting my B12 down from 3/4 weekly to 12 I thought I would give you an update.

Because I have COPD I managed to change my appointment with the dreadful nurse to the one I see for my respiratory problems. She is lovely and gave me my B12 without hesitation. She also booked me in in 3 weeks time for my next one so for now I am dodging the bullet.

What was interesting was a young doctor who had just joined the practice sat in on all this and as soon as the nurse informed her I have B12 injections the young doctor said ‘for pernicious anaemia‘I said yes ‘ she said, ‘oh for life then’ I could have kissed her!

I hope you all have good fortune in your daily task to keep well. Thank you again. X

Good to hear.

When mine was 'mucked up ' by a nurse another couldnt do it.

So hopefully' her views' not recorded on your notes.

Like you say avoid her .

My heart sank when a go idea never met did my IM injection ad the new nurse I'm accustomed tk now was off sick.

He not only used s finer needle so did not hurt but didn't question anything.

Answered my questions about what brand was brinv used ect.

A good experience.

Strange how bad ones stood out.

Now it's the good ones that stand out !!

Thank you for taking time to reply. It’s true how the good medics stick in our minds now rather than the odd horrible one.

I really hope your nurse comes back off sick leave for you soon.

It’s awful how these people decide whether we get on with our lives in the healthiest way we can or be miserable because they are ignorant to our needs. Take care x

How heartening to hear that there were two "B12-knowledgeable" health professionals in the room !

It was like a breath of fresh air especially as I was nervous because I thought I would have to be confrontational. All the very best x

Hated that gearing yourself up for appointments - sorting through your evidence, research, rereading and selecting what you think might work - like Sunday nights as a schoolkid, stressing over homework. Then on the day, can't remember what you brought with you or left behind, can't find it anyway, all you can see is pages and pages of highlighter....

Surely, the signs there for anyone to see, if only they would look up from their computer screen.

So glad I no longer have to do any of that.

Well done, hedgehogs !

Yes she was a lovely young doctor and more knowledgeable than many of her older but not wiser colleagues. Take care

It does seem the younger gp’s have more knowledge of PA. When I took my daughter for a chat about her blood results I questioned one of the them and said I receive B12 injections she looked up and said ah Pernicious Anemia? So maybe they are getting more training now😀

Fingers crossed for new beginnings with younger doctors like you say. Take care

Wonderful news!! Glad you have someone that listens and treats you. The feel I get when I leave an appointment where they listened and know how to treat my issue is the best!
