Exercise and PA

After doing weekly injections for a few months I have been feeling so much better. It’s nice to finally feel more like myself and to have some me energy. I have been trying to go on a walk several times a week and also listen to my body and rest. This week I have walked more and the neuropathy is worse. Is it normal to experience worsening symptoms with exercise? It’s so frustrating.

For me j find the same. Have gradually been trying to walk a lithje further.

Also have tried s very very short cycle ride .

For me I xm exercise intolerant ax it sets of head pains and vestibular problems.

Very frustrating.

I seem to be able to do a little then crash.

Is it getting worse or is it more noticeable? If you have no energy and you don't do much activity, then you won't notice that it hurts when you go for walks if you don't go for walks.

You could try some calisthenics.

You control how many pushups or squats you do. You find your limit much faster and it doesn't require you to go anywhere. You won't have to walk back home while tired and hurting because you'll already be at home.

Plus, most routines will have you take a day off to rest anyways, so you could alternate pushups, squats, leg raises, and pull ups, if you can manage those.

I’m noticing my symptoms come back faster with more exercise.

I remember years ago that the more I pushed myself the worse I got. IN the end I would walk less distance but more often, instead of walking 1 -2 miles two or three times a week, I would walk 1/2 mile every day.Gentle exercise to start , gradually you will notice you will able to walk further without the discomfort.

It's frustrating but you will be able to tolerate more as time goes by.

With me there is no rhyme or reason. Nothing consistent in response I personally like to get put for some air and change of scenery.

Walking is so good for you .

It can change very quickly from walking okay to weakness xnd head pains fie me .

Do frustrating as skwt have to think of getting back. Take your freedom away but it never stops me trying.

Some days simply acgecdlk over like the flu or other yins ache that wake me up.

I'm s naturally restless person use to moving physically alone.

Certainly can't lift anymore . Even wet washing in the laundry basket can make my neck sore .

I do do gate physio.

No press ups for me .

Does the neuropathy come and go? Do you also experience more bouts of fatigue and weakness? Also, is your CBC in the normal range when you started exercising more?

I’d been getting monthly injections from my GP but felt that although I was beginning to feel more like my old self I was still declining in the week or two before my injection was due. This was more to do with energy levels than neuropathy though.

I took the decision to self inject and for a few months did this weekly and it made a huge improvement. I felt better able to manage work, my home life and a social life. I was also able to cycle and use the gym again but I was definitely better doing a bike ride the day after an injection than the day before it was due.

As cycling is a big part of my life I decided to try twice weekly as an experiment. That was 2 or 3 years ago now and I haven’t looked back. My energy levels are on an even keel throughout the week and (having built up the fitness) I’ve been able to get on with all challenges I’ve thrown at myself. Last year I did my biggest ever cycling mileage and I was the fittest I’ve ever been despite now being in my 60s.

I would suggest that you haven’t yet found the injection frequency that is perfect for you. Possibly you’ll feel the benefit of an extra injection midweek which might allow you to live your life how you’d wish to, including the walking.

Good luck!

Out of curiosity, how much do you inject each time and is it hydroxy or cyano?

Just the usual (U.K.) dose of 1mg in 1ml of hydroxo

I love your enthusiasm ! Maybe you should slow down the walks and walk fewer times for now. Stretching before and after the walks will help to stretch your muscles and tendons and help in your overall wellness. Give it a little time and you'll be up to speed again.
