Question .... Had low b12 in 300 range back in July 2021. Now on injections and got my level up to1169 which is very good. However, when i was in low range my primary complaint was feeling off kind of like woozy and lightheaded feeling and some fatigue. That had gotten better and now it is back on and off. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS COMPLAINT WITH LOW B12 ???

What was the range given? I ask because 300 doesn’t seem especially low.

Was there a reason why injections were started with a level of 300?

Injections were started for me at 282 pg/ml and I had been symptomatic for a long time at that point. I could barely get out of bed when my deficiency was found.

This was included on my lab report—“Please note: Although the reference range for Vitamin B12 is 200-1100 pg/ml, it has been reported that between 5% and 10% of patients with values between 200 and 400 pg/ml may experience neuropsychiatric and hemotologic abnormalities due to occult B12 deficiency; less than 1% of patients with values above 400pg/ml will have symptoms.”

The range is 200-900 so 300 is low, did you feel a lot better?

Yes it’s a minefield mcg -woo but great to see that you had an enlightened lab report!

The reason for my question to catgirl2021 was because she said symptoms are returning and there were 2 possible scenarios that came to my mind.

Either the symptoms weren’t caused by B12d in the first place and so it would be important not to exclude the possibility of other causes so maybe further tests are needed.

Or the symptoms are caused by B12d in which case a more frequent injection regime might be in order. Although I know B12 levels after injections are meaningless, I see that despite injections the B12 level is now 1169 whereas my own, for example, is above the reference range.

Hello. Yes, I had many other tests done with cardiology and mris etc. So basically ruled out other possibilities and hopefully it is just my B12. I do not absorb normally if taken orally due to IBS.

That’s how I got diagnosed I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow and when I got up and tried to walk I had to hold on to the wall, I was woozy, really tired and very irritable and emotional I could cry for no reason,
