Anxiety and PA

Hi,

I’m now at a loss with this condition because my original neurological signs have calmed down (twitching and tingling in legs/feet) but my anxiety levels are at a level I’ve never experienced before- please can someone advise if they’ve experienced this…

My last injection was 6 weeks ago but I find I get increased tingling when I have injections and my mind races…

I just do not know what to do anymore 😓

Are you having yiur iron folate and vit d levels checked.?If not able to absorb b12 other things may become deficient.

You may need more frequent injections?

Anxiety did go for ne when I was having enough b12.

Initially was very bad.

An induced sort not experienced before.

I can get waves of it now.

I know its not the way I did feel in the past if anxious so try and ride the storm.

I think it's 'normal ' when dealing with so much anyhow.

Everything got alot worse for me before improvements.

Occasionally i csn feel 'wired

And want to do everything whilst I can.

It's a complete learning curve how to proceed with life.

Old habits. Ways of doing stuff all have to change to accommodate the weakness and fatigue ect

I've tried all sorts but tend to take each day at a time still.

My mind also races.

I think b12 speeds up your metobolism too at times.

Each injection does different things to me still after nearly 3 years.

I found folic acid caused anxiety and never take it.Otherwise I have no problems with anxiety.

Which type of B12 are you taking? If you are taking methylcobalamin, try hydroxocobalamin. Some of us find the methylcobalamin gives some funny side effects.

I’ve been taking Methyl/Adeno sublinguals that seem to decrease tingling/twitching but I’m just realising that it may be these drops that increase anxiety… whereas I took lots of hydroxocobalamin injections an they made my tingling/twitching go crazy - it’s horrible

You could be right, didn't agree with me.Do hope anxiety will go it's horrible.

Yeah, maybe experiment without the methyl sublingual.

Like others have said, when you first start having treatment some symptoms can feel worse before they get better, so maybe stick with the hydroxo injections and see how it goes?

My symptoms are similar to Nackapan

I tried oral methylcobalamin twice and each time it gave me horrible anxiety and insomnia. Stop taking it and see if the anxiety goes away.

If b12 levels are low, hydroxo injections can make you feel worse at first before you feel better. Low b12 can absolutely cause anxiety and it may be that your injection schedule isn’t adequate. If my levels aren’t exactly right, I have symptoms—restlessness, anxiety, weird feeling and shocks in my feet that trigger fight or flight as well as lingering sensations in my feet. I also experience paranoia and phobias. Weekly injections of hydroxo keep me symptom-free which means my levels are so high that they can’t be measured by a lab—over 2,000. Because I can’t absorb b12, my body can’t recycle it and I need frequent injections just to feel normal. I don’t understand how some people on this forum go 2-3 months without an injection. I would be so sick by then! Best of luck to you. I hope you find a solution that works for you.

I don't know how this injection works but I think B12 injection causes new symptoms experience that I have never had before and frequency of injection can't be increased for first four or five months but after that it's tolerable to increase frequency of injection so some people switch to IM from SI in order to increase frequency of injection. My symptoms are getting improved like my vision and when I get nervous my vision works close to normal! But my muscle weakness is terrible! And also my body's endurance. But it's getting increased slowly

Me too, but I do find that the anxiety has settled and seems to occur in cycles, so I'm not anxious all the time. I can now go for extended periods of time without anxiety and I take comfort when I do have anxiety that it won't last, which I think in itself helps to cut down the episodes. I hope things settle down for you too, best wishes x

Stick to the hydroxo injections only and stop the sublinguals and things should calm down. You might want to talk to your doctor to give you something for anxiety temporarily if you find that it’s really bad. I took Diazepam which gives you total relief from anxiety, although it can be addictive I was tapered off by reducing small doses over a few weeks without problem but you need to talk to a medical professional regarding Diazepam.

Or you can try something herbal like valerian root to manage your anxiety together with herbal tea like camomile if you don’t want to take any tablets like Diazepam. I’m mentioning Diazepam as it seems your anxiety levels are quite high so that can be a last resort but I would definitely stop the sublinguals and see how you feel as I feel it could be that making things worse.

Symptoms usually increase when taking the injections before things settle down.

I’m talking about my personal experience so please do get professional advice and weigh out what suits you best.

I hope you feel better soon.

Give it time and things should work out.

I drink chamomile tea but it doesn't make any difference! Unfortunately

I also have bouts of anxiety. Something I did not experience of this level before PA. I don't want to put antidepressants in my body but was getting desperate because of the amount of anxiety attacks I was having. Praying so much and one day reading reviews on anxiety help on Amazon I came across so many good reviews on Tulsi-HOLY BASIL I decided to give it a try especially because it's a natural herb. Guys you would not believe the calming effect it has on my nerves. Some reviews say it also helps with sleep but I didn't get that effect BUT just the calmness was well worth it. Hope this helps. Best

I have experienced the same level of anxiety but it depends on situation. I had an exam couple a days ago which was so important and I couldn't ignore it so started to read but my severe weakness caused severe anxiety attack and sever muscle and back bone pain. In whole of my life I was very robust athlete before PA! But just in one year destroyed me!

I'm sorry you are going through this 2020-1. I certainly know those panic attacks are horrible but I have got some good relief with the Tulsi Holy basil . The panic attacks dont come like they did. I'm so grateful to God I started taking it. Much calmer now. My doctor knows I don't want to take antidepressants so he told me to try Tulsi Holy Basil. I ordered it off Amazon. I will post the kind I bought but read the reviews how it's helped others. Take care. Best

So it's indian basil extract? Have you ever tried basil in foods? I'm gonna add it to my food to see to what extent it's effective. And get tulsi too. In the meantime I drink chamomile tea but it's not effective. As long as this B12 deficiency exist and doesn't go away I have to live with my anxiety disorder and panic disorder and depression.as well

in reply to Hamayeshguy

No, the kind you cook with doesn't have the same effects. Here is a pic of the one I ordered from Amazon. I know the diagnosis is overwhelming but once you get the right amount of shots you should feel better.

Dark Brown glass bottle with Tulsi holy basil on it

I had terrible side effects of anxiety and agitation with methylcobalamin. Went away completely within about 5 days of me stopping dosage. Good luck!
