IM or SC jabs

Please can someone tell me which type of jab is better. I am going IM but are there any benefits to going SC?

Also, in that brilliant book - The forgotten Disease, he said that some people described Anal incontinence rather than diarrhoea. Has anyone had problems with anal sphincter muscle at all. Sorry - I know it's one of the sensitive areas!

This forum is so very helpful - thank you all

People who hate needles might prefer to inject subcutaneously , as the needle used is half the length of the one used in Intra-muscular injections . Not only that , but the needle for sub-cut can also be finer than one used for I.M. Eg. sub-cut. 30G x 1/2 inch , and I.M. 25G x 1 inch . . It is said that sub-cut takes longer to be absorbed . As regards anal incontinence ,I believe that can happen if the P.A. patient has had P.A. for some years without having any treatment . But first would come urinary incontinence.

I get IM from the GP & SC when I self inject. Both work just as well for me. I've also recently experienced the 'other' issue & lost significant use of one of my legs as an after effect of a trapped sciatic nerve. Physio is helping both but the incontinence is deeply unpleasant Extra injections have also helped & it only happens now a little while after I've had to go naturally.

Thanks for that Singoutloud. I also have lost sensation so I'm not aware of the problem until after it has happened. I also had Ulcerative colitis for years so wondered if that had damaged the nerves.

I get IM shots from my doctor and sometimes give myself SC shots in my belly. To me it seems the IM shots seem to hit my system faster while the SC shots seep into my system more slowly. Either way, they both get the job done.

I experienced anal incontinence and a prolapsed anus that required surgery that has solved the incontinence. My PA was not treated correctly nor was I ever told that I needed to include a source of acid in my diet. This resulted in severe constipation and that resulted in the anal prolapse. Soon after the surgery I started to do my own research into PA and with adequate added acid I no longer have the constipation. This inadequate treatment was a direct result of the NHS being deliberately underfunded for the last eleven years.

It is strange that you mention acid and wondered what sort you take ? I have found cider vinegar helpful plus it seems to help with the stinging and burning in my legs.

I find it very sad to read others stories where they are not getting the appropriate treatment or advise, with pateints making little headway.

It is a constant battle that is falling on deaf ear's. All they care about is the results of our bloods and half the time they are not carried out correctly, our symptoms are not even being considered and we are simply left to suffer.

Thats my early morning rant over with now going to tackle the surgery at 8 - if I can get through, the constant redial first come first served is nauseating to say the least.

Hi Bellabab, thanks for that - I feel I am close to prolapse. I have started self injecting so hoping this too has a chance of improving
