Hi all,

Might be a bit wierd to ask, and I'm going to ask Dr tommorow about b12 inj, but I don't think I'll get anywhere.dont know much about paying for an injection read some buety salons or clinicians will do it as treatment supplement injection but trying to transverse the web looking nightmare. (Couldn't care less weather it makes me look better or less a wrinkle)

Does anyone know any that do it in north East England?

If you do not have Pernicious Anaemia , you can get all the benefits of B12 supplementation from tablets , if you are deficient in this vitamin .These benefits do not include any wrinkle reducing , weight loss or beauty-enhancing results , no matter if you inject or take B12 orally. I can assure you of that , having injected B12 weekly for 6 years ! ( I have Pernicious Anaemia) Just inquire at Beauty clinics in your area if you are keen to try them .You will eventually find one .The cost is quite high ( an ampoule of B12 only costs about 70pence ! ) Huge profits for unscrupulous operators who promise all sorts of miracles .

Hi nakapan,No, phone Dr tomorrow but as you said the other day ,as I'm supplementing with high dose oral it'll probs be within range, so going to ask Dr if can with all symps try injection until get appointment with gastro about erossove gastroenteritis and then maybe ask for IF abs, but don't think GP will do it but have to speak about heart pills prescription anyway.

You know your symptoms

Your b12 might be low if yiuvare not absorbing .

Tell them what you take how you feel.

Folate ,iron, vit D levels.

Seemingly not everything is checked on basic bloods.

They know your medical history.

If yiuve had b12 tested before .

Change in symptoms

.No harm in asking them.

Get them to think about causes for your symptoms.

Speak slowly to slow them down.

Always can write in too

I know how difficult it is with these telephone consults.

I eventually got a face to face after 19months of not seeing a Gp.

4 min whirlwind

Things will get missed

Write a list.

I was rung not expecting it . Without a list useless. Hence having to ring back.

How this us saving time is beyond me.

So much more admin required .

Hope it goes okay.

healthclinics.superdrug.com...

You can pay to have injections at Superdrug but you do need to prove you are b12 deficient either doing one of there tests or a positive b12 deficiency diagnosis from your GP.

Hi, I called Superdrug, they won't give you the injections unless you have a diagnosis from a doctor, even if you do their test and are positive, a doctor has to confirm diagnosis. Sorry.

That seems like a bit of a rip off from Superdrug then! Pay £70 for their test but still have to get GP to confirm! Glad I’m avoiding all of them.

It's just one way of getting the IFab test done if the GP is not ordering it for you. I thought I'd mention it.

Getting the extended B12 deficiency test kit from Superdrug might bypass the need to ask the GP for the blood tests, it is about £70 but includes the intrinsic factor blood test

The battles even if you get a positive result are another thing ....sigh. Good luck friend.

Just seen this reply, yes I thought it was a wrong to pay £70 for test and still need GP approval! Word of warning though I did buy this test and it’s very complicated. It’s quite a large vial to fill with blood from a lancet cut! We were put off. Decided not to bother.

Thanks guys,Given my past experience with GPS, passed between 3 over last 16 month not Sure how it'll go, probs just get told wait 'see for gastro' refferal or ' we will arrange another blood count test' that then takes 3 weeks to get appointment and another 2 for results at which point told 'everything is fine as far as bloods can see' , and with all this blood vile shortages on the news props won't get that.😤😵🤯

Cheers

Some private GPs may offer B12 injections...prices can vary a lot though.

Perhaps you could search online for private GPs in your area?

Some UK forum members resort to self treatment if they cannot get adequate treatment from NHS. I personally feel this is a last resort.

Thanks sleepbunny, unfortunatley can't afford anymore private Dr last time (February/ may) had abdo mri bloods count, private saved £750+ 180 for it told everything ok. Then gastro appointment in April NHS gastroscopy told errosive gastroenteritis but had to have yet athoer refferal to another gastro still waiting. After told my other symps hypochondria. Spoke with GP secreterie ,appointment with gp now Wednesday just put through my fast heart medication(bisoprolol) today.😵

As for self treatment have ordered and waiting to get confirmation. Give anything ago at this point

Thanks
