Update on Husbands lack of treatment!

Husband had another conversation with a Dr who again dismissed his concerns regarding his b12 levels dropping by half as they still within normal range. Now made a complaint via practice manager. After a lot of conversations another Dr called and asked what treatment or plan had been discussed with my husband. Absolutely nothing was the reply. He had another blood test which showed further depletion of b12 and folate. It is an absolute disgrace that the Dr's are taking no notice of his symptoms and addressing them. Anyway the good news is that finally the Gp has reinstated his b12 injections every 3 months but not until 20th of June! What a carry on to get the treatment you need to survive. His consultant at the Hospital said he needed this for the rest of his life but they took no notice until we made a complaint. You shouldn't have this stress to get your treatment.

Ask again for loading doses first .Depending how low he has got snd how bad his symptoms are catch up time is needed.

How long ago were they stopped?

Good you've at least managed to sort 3 monthly back.

Why the wait?

I hD all these problems when my mums were stopped twice!

It's such a palaver for a treatment that is so simple. I have gone through the process of telling every medical person I have dealt with that my symptoms return with a vengeance after two weeks or so, but they are all adamant that I only need three monthly injections. So, like many others, I have resorted to self-injecting. Far less stress and I feel like I am actually making a difference to my body. Good luck with your husband's treatment.

Yes- reloading after making him plummet. Least they could do, since this was their judgement error. An apology wouldn't go amiss either.

Wonder how consultants feel when their advice is sought and then ignored ?

So maybe two apologies due !
