I have recently been daiognosed with Diverticulitis,
I can't see any great tieup between this and PA is there a link or is this just a left field thing
My dad had that and had ti have a very high fibre diet He wasn't b12 deficient /pA
Bowel habits can change with PA so oerhais if yiuve a disposition to that condition it could bring it on??
I have occasional episodes of diverticulitis and I wondered that as well. My doctor told me there is no correlation of diverticulitis causing PA.
PA does not just mean being unable to absorb B12 but also that your stomach does not make enough acid to digest your food. Hence there is a frequent occurrence of all sorts of gut problems - not at all surprised that you get infected pouches in your gut and much more. Drinking acidic fruit juices etc. with meals helps a lot. Also omega3 oil capsules; probiotic capsules and a high fibre diet all help to have a healthy gut flora that will eliminate these.
Is it diverticulosis or diverticulitis?
Almost everybody of a certain age has the former - pockets, called diverticulae, that bulge out from the intestine (normally the large intestine). When these get infected it can cause problems. That is diverticulitis.
The cause of diverticulae isn't properly known. In the past it was assumed that eating too little fibre was the cause, and that eating a high-fibre diet could prevent their formation. But there isn't really any good evidence to back that up. webmd.com/digestive-disorde...
