I self inject with hydroxocobalamin but am now told that the needle manufacturer has 'manufacturing difficulties' and unable to supply (I'm nearly out of stock). I use 30g x 0.5" needles. Anyone else had same problem? or tried using different needle size (if that is possible or advisable)?

Needle Shortage?
I've not heard this. That's the size I use. I supposes 29G woukd be okay. Some even do 27G sc
Where are you trying to buy them?
Get same response from both Medisave and MidMeds. Both have probems with BD Microlance needles of that size.
I don't even know whether the needle size matters or not I'm using the 2ml syringe which I get at medical stores never heard abt using a specific size not in India atleast
You need one to draw it ouf of the syringezag 21G then change needle to Inject23-25G IM 1"
27-30 G SC 1/2"
Ooo thank you didn't knew that
Yet Surgeries only use one needle......
Just looked up at exchangesupplies.org
They have 30G x 1/2 inch needles .
I use 2 as wellBut I also reuse mine about 6 times
It is very bad practice to use needles more than once. Please don't do it!
They are only sterile when they are sealed in their packets and can pick up bugs/pathogens/bacteria/fungi from the atmosphere as soon as the packets are open. There are always a number of bugs on your skin and these can rapidly multiply on the needles.
If the challenge from these bugs is greater than your immune system can cope with they can cause abscesses and potentially sepsis.
Drug addicts are more likely to die from needles and syringes that are reused than they are from using drugs which is why there are community needle exchanges, etc.
They only cost a few pence each and it is not worth risking serious illness or potentially your life.
Plus they get blunt and injecting becomes more uncomfortable!
I wonder is the needle shortage could be caused by the ongoing world wide COVID 19 vaccine program.
