Just read an article regarding dementia, and Matt Hancock

Mentioned the importance of vitamin b12, and all nutrition, he stated you can get the vitamin b12 from eating broccoli

It was reported in the newspapers in November 2018

If that's true then my supermarket is going to have shortage

We stand no chance of good health with matt hancock advising us what to eat.

Also I've just read about a ban that came in on beauty salons and others advertising b12 shots, as this is a controlled substance only allowed by the nhs. This was May 2020

Hi,

"Also I've just read about a ban that came in on beauty salons and others advertising b12 shots"

Do you have more details about the ban you mentioned?

I'm not aware of a ban so very interested.

I think the person who runs B12 deficiency Info website would also be interested.

As far as I know they can advertise B12 shots but not for medicinal reasons.

Blog post from B12 deficiency info about MHRA double standards on B12 injections

B12 injections from beauty salons are mentioned in blog post.

Hi, had to find website again it's the asa website, advertising watchdog.

Hmmm, that may be my work.

I have, in the past, reported more than one purveyor of B12 to the ASA - for making medical claims about their product.

It is illegal to sell B12 for the purposes of treating a medical condition. I have reported several companies for this to the MHRA.

It's also illegal to advertise a treatment for a medical condition. Those have been reported to the ASA.

So it may be that you're read a report about a salon being banned from advertising B12 injections to treat a B12 deficiency. They are still allowed to advertise them as an 'energy booster'.

Yup, stupid isn't it.

I suggest we all write to our MPs complaining that beauty salons are allowed to inject people as often as they desire, but those of us who actually need the injections aren't allowed to have it as often as we need to stay healthy.

Don't forget to include you name and postcode as MPs can only act for their own constituents.

I think there are more people on here competent in administering an injection than in any Beauty Salon

I remember him saying that and the uproar it caused at the time.Even now when my injection is due, because I used to rant about what he said, my partner says jokingly "looks like your B12 is low, better get some broccoli in you"

It’s perfectly legitimate to advertise B12 injections , as long as it’s only for weight loss ( I should be pin-thin in that case !) or energy boost , but not for treating B12 deficiency .

Yes, what a joke! I used to be pin-thin but have gained weight on B12!

I am interested to know what strength everybody who were given oral b12 were given.

Meanwhile, on TV, those with long covid are talking about brain fog, fatigue, mood swings, nerve pain, anxiety, breathlessness, slowing down of thought process, physical slowing, loss of energy and muscle wasting - which sounds a lot like B12 deficiency: let's hope Matt Hancock doesn't suggest the answer lies in a broccoli-based diet !

in reply toCherylclaire

Symptoms bring back memories, maybe some fortunateLong covid people will have good treatment with b12,but how many will be given maybe one injection for doctors say they got no response and give up, instead of continuing with more injections.

Yes, it's one of the many problems with our system. My MP, despite being in a constituency where a monkey with a blue bum could get elected, is actually quite good at pretending to care, at least.

I spoke to an independent doctor who asked me do you trust the government, I replied NO,He responded with "the government runs the NHS."

This was a well respected doctor, who was appreciated by the local people he treated.
