Do B12 shots have to be subcutaneousor Intramuscul

I have found a site that sells Inject-Ease that I thought might help me through the initial "fear" of self administered injections. Unfortunately their UK distibutor is out of stock but they have told me I can order directly from them. They ask the following which I am unsure of (forgive me as I am a total newbie to all of this!) and am perplexed by the request for verification (I have never self injected anything so don't really understand what they are asking!:

Once again I am kindly asking members for their help - I am finding all this slightly bewildering.

Yes, you can administer B12 subcutaneously. When you buy B12 from Germany the box mentions sub-cut.

I'm not sure if the Inject-Ease can handle 1 mL injections. I'm pretty sure that insulin syringes are just 1 mL, but their device might not be able to inject the full amount.

I Imagine the device will only hold an insulin syringe. Check with the company how many mls as fbirder suggests. The b12 is usually 1ml in total to be injected.

It may be easier to just use a syringe and needle. I've not seen a device used for insulin suitable for b12 .. given subcutaneously.

My husband uses a pen which is a similar device that you mention.

It's a smaller amount of Insulin also preloaded. Also uses preloaded cartridges .

Before this ordinary syringes and needles.

That's why they want verivacation for use.i imagine and checking you want subcutaneous.

I do subcutaneous b12 injections.

Was a complete novice but getting on fine.

The finest needle I think safe is 3OG

The length I use is 1/2 "

Some use 27G -3oG.

I uses a 21G needle to draw up the b12 in a 2ml syringe then change the needle to inject. L

The amount of fluid is 1ml.

I put it in slowly .

It can be wherever there is enough subcutaneous fat.

Nurses insist on stomach. 2' away from belly button .

I did my first ones there. I also uses my thighs and other places.

It is normal to feel uncertain about things you have no experience of doing.

I would encourage you to inject yourself in your outer thigh muscle. It really isn't difficult at all and everyone can learnt to do it without the need for any gadgets. Try practicing injecting water into an orange several times a day for several days. Everyone I know who has tried this found that their fears soon evaporated. Most GPs will arrange for you to be shown how to do it by their practice nurse.
