Itchy Bumps

Hello, are itchy bumps a symptom of PA or vitamin D deficiency? I am doing loading doses. I can't remember if I had itching before injections but I have them in different parts of my body now.

I got sore lumps like closed spots. Its q reaction/side effect of the injections.

I very rarely get them now .

I had them mainly on my hairline and neck and face.

If we are speaking g about the same thing ?

Thank you. Maybe. It seem like insect bites but surrounding portion of my skin is itchy. Also my head has been itchy.

as it is a result of high levels of B12 it would affect someone who was susceptible regardless of whether they had been deficient or not.

rashes can be a result of B12 loading doses - and can reach the levels of severe acne in some patients. Most likely cause is a reaction to toxins produced by micro-organisms on the skin in response to the higher levels of B12 they are experiencing. It can be worse during loading shots because your immune system also starts to kick back in as it has enough B12 to respond and it can go into overdrive for a while until everything settles down so your skin reacts even more than it normally would to the excess B12. For some patients the problem goes away but for others it can be a constant recurrence associated with maintenance doses.

Thank you. I wonder if healthy people would have these reactions if they had excess vitamin b12.

I've done 8 shots for a loading dose. Should I continue to SI every other day or once a week. I'm not sure what to do anymore. I know it's until there aren't anymore symptoms but the shots are causing more symptoms. I am also working on getting my Vitamin D level up. I just learned that vitamin D deficiency also have symptoms of PA/MS. My folate and other vitamin blood work is in the healthy range.

My vitamin d was very low also. I found raising the levels which took a while helped reduce hrafachescs bit. Depending on how low the doctor sometimes prescribespading doses.i had that but still have to take a daily maintenance dose. Its record.mended through the winter anyhow.

The shots can cause more symtoms Maggie which is good because eventually it will all just taper off it’s happened like that to so many of us here so try and persevere, write down all your symtoms including any new ones and then monitor how you feel daily, don’t have to go mad keeping big charts just simple reminders of your symptoms and eventually you’ll see them reducing because we do forget as we get better.its taken me around 6 months of alternate day shots I got so bad at first around shot 4 or 5 it scared me to death but with lots of support here and learning I’ve gotten past that now although I can slip back very quickly if I try and reduce frequency so I’m not doing that anymore until my life is more settled at least, stress really depletes my levels.

Plod away with what your doing it will get better xx

Thank you. I’m trying to figure out now how often I should inject. My symptoms are the same since the loading dose.

Then keep injecting every other day till your symtoms start to ease and you feel ready to reduce the frequency.im still injecting every other day for 6 months now .Dont let yourself get sick again it’s not worth it.best of luck xx

As Thrones says every other day do bring on symptoms . I got worse before improvements . I had the usual 6 loading doses. Then an unwanted 5 week break whilst persuading my medics to have more. I then went back on every other day injections for 4 months then tapered to once weekly . In hindsight I think I should've stayed weekly for longer . I then had 2 weekly for a year . Now every 6th day. I've still a long way to go

We are all different.

Wow. What a journey.

I’d say b12 if your having injections.I got quite bumpy on my forehead at loading doses which horrified me as I’ve never had spots on my face ,other than mossie bites lol, they usually clear up for most people but not all as they can recur,I sometimes get another outbreak always on my forehead but they do go again x

Thank you. I guess it’s the loading dose. I didn’t notice itching or paid attention when I got single shots.

Hello Maggiez, a few years ago, I had sepsis and pneumonia and then a month or so later was given a P.A. diagnosis. During that period, the hairs on my legs fell out and I developed small scabby lumps all over my body and in my hair. I still don’t know which of the above illnesses caused them. A couple of months later, I went over to France for a few weeks, (much sunnier in Brittany than Wales) and I sat in the sun with a pair of shorts on. I’m not a sun lover and it’s not something that I would normally do but the scabby lumps cleared up completely, except the ones in my hair.

Thank you for sharing. I got antibodies to my parietal cells after being infected with h. Pylori and taking medication. It ruined my quality of life. Hoping things get better.
