I’ve suffered with pa for 10 years after years of thinkng I was going insane chronic pain breathlessness etc all the usual symptoms. On starting my work I required a medical I told them about my pa and had a letter from the doctor to explain I get my three monthly injections now my work are taking redundancies which I suppose is the same all over, now I have only been off a round 4 days in one year and 8 the year before and it was both for the same thing Chronic back back which I thought was a slipped disk but turns out it’s neurological which can be controlled with pain relief but sometimes it gets bad so I’m exercising to help it I also was off one day with a migrane which I usually get and the doc thinks it could be my pa that causing all of this now what I’m asking is am I covered by the equality act if it comes to myself being selected for a one to one consultation and they have known about my b12 so I’m hoping I will be ok but just wondering if I can say or do anything to protect myself if it comes to it, although I have a good record and haven’t actually been off for the sake of it I

If you are able to do tour job. Have had little time of sick PA should not be used as a reason.
I used to he a union rep.
If redundancies have ti be made there is a legal process.
Constructionak dismissal is another thing to read up on.
All of these things did not help my 26yr old daughter . She was a full time senior english teacher.
They went through the stages of Occupational health ect but the school was an academy. Basically as she hadnt long enough service they went through the stages with no compassion .
I had to take my union hat off and put mums back on.
Se left before sacked.
So depends on how many years service
If you are able to do your ur job.
Have you a union rep. Are you in a union.if not citizens advice
I know eadowt said thsn done but try not to worry too much if nothings happened yet.
I was in a similar position when the NHS lost the bid for school health.
I coukdnt even get redundancy.
Voluntary or otherwise.
Messed up my pension as 3 years short of 40 years service.
Anyway some things you cant change.
I hope you csn get the help and support to get through it.
Thank you yeh we have the u ion I just don’t want to bring it up incase it’s not an issue if you get me, although I have a good record I think panic just sets in and I want to be prepared to be able to use my pa as I think it is so thing that does cause me health problems I also read that if you are given treatment and it helps your still covered for certain things I don’t know I’m just as I said in a panic
Erin818, I think your query is probably a little beyond the ability of this forum.
Suggest that you contact citizen's advice - they have an on-line service and if your work has a union join it if you aren't a member already to get their additional support.
Anyone who has a long term condition that affects their ability to carry out day to day tasks is part of a protected group as defined in disability legislation. However, things get rather complex when it comes to employment and redundancies, hence the advice to contact citizen's advice or your union.
I’m sure in one of Martyn Hooper’s books he said that unless there was significant degeneration of something spinal cord related that a person wouldn’t be considered disabled under the equality act.
