Like many here, my injections have been stopped during the pandemic and I have been placed on 50ml tablets twice a day. Just had my blood checked and my b12 level was considered abnormal at 956 - abnormal because it was higher than the advisory level. I have been told to cease all b12 supplementation for three months and then have another blood test.
Is 956 above the required level?
Should I do as advised by my doctors?

your B12 level is higher than the normal level - which is the range in which 80%+ of people will be.
In some people high B12 levels (caused by factors that aren't related to injections) can cause problems - but they should not be withdrawing your injections because your levels are coming back high. However, the biochemistry of B12 - particuarly after injections - is something most GPs are completely unaware of and isn't completely understood anyway.
Thank you for your response. I have not had an injection for over 18 weeks as my surgery stopped them and put me on 50ml tablets twice a day. My b12 level indicates that I can absorb b12 from tablets hence they assume (correctly?) that I don’t need injections anymore.
any test with serum B12 18 weeks after injections would be inconclusive. You cannot take it as proof that you are absorbing B12 from the tablets. If your symptoms have gone and you feel okay then that may indicate that the tablets are okay and you didn't have an absorption problem - just a dietary deficiency.
Thank you. My doctor has instructed me to cease all supplementation for three months then get another test - I assume this is related to your point and he wants to test whether I can absorb b12 without injections. I shall continue with my multi vitamin as I am a vegetarian and get below the minimum in my diet.
I have mild parathesia which was a symptom during my deficiency and will keep an eye on other symptoms returning.
