Has anyone noticed their vaginal atrophy worsening since starting b12 injections.

I’ve been injecting every other day and normally I’ve managed to keep on top of the V.A but this last two weeks it’s been really flared,I’m wondering if it’s because I’m peeing out any excess, any thoughts please? X

Look up vitamin d.

Flaxseed and other oestrogen rich foods.

No idea if a connection between injections just hormones decreasing.

Hi Nackapan my Vit d will be quite good now as I’ve been supplementing and the only change I’ve made is the b12 injection that’s why I wondered if anyone else had noticed this.I was on hrt for a while but stopped a couple of years ago due to side effects and I tended towards the natural route ,which usually works for me ,but gosh this is really sore and uncomfortable I’ve not been this bad for years.

I can only think it’s the injection I’ll need to do some more research.ty have a lovely bank holiday weekend x

I’m pro hrt which I have prescribed by a specialist rather than by the GP and feel I’ve received better advice and better quality medication.

It’s a personal decision and I totally understand anyone deciding against hrt but I’d just ask if you’ve considered one option called vagifem which is a fairly low dose oestrogen (vaginal) pessary (google will give you info on it). Apparently the effects stay local rather than going through your system as in the case of tablets for example. I’ve found it very helpful in minimising adverse of effects of the menopause on ‘down there’ (trying not to be graphic as it’s not the forum for this sort of discussion).

Hi Jan yes thank you for replying but I’ve had the lot gels patches vagifem I even bought the spray amongst other things from Spain,it wasn’t available in U.K. still don’t think it is,ive seen numerous private meno consultants ,all very nice but all very expensive so they can afford to be nice, most of them told me my side effects weren’t usual but that was no consolation when I was suffering.I was very patient even went down the testosterone route but I just got worse and worse so I’m afraid I wouldn’t touch Hrt with a barge pole now it’s not for me,since stopping it my side effects have resolved but not before costing me a lot of money and a lot of specialist doctors and testing.

I have no problem discussing this on the forum as I’m asking a very direct question regarding a possible side effect of b12 so it shouldn’t be an issue.

I’m glad your doing well on the hrt a lot of people I know do very well on it but I’ve had to give up and go the natural route but we all know what works for some is a disaster for others.

Thank you for your reply as always it was appreciated.x

Thank you so much for posting. I have just googled vaginal atrophy and honestly I am sat here in tears. I have had chronic UTI’s, incontinence and severe burning for two years.I have just finished my 10th course of Macrobid in eleven months and I am still burning badly. It is so bad now that my vaginal moisturiser stings for hours after use. I am on the maxi nappy type pads from the continence service. I had an emergency hysterectomy aged 40 after 8 years of failed fertility treatment. They gave me HRT but my blood pressure went so high I had to stop so I have just been left for 18 years to get on with it. I will definitely pursue this with my GP. I am very grateful.
