Worth reading if you live in Gloucestershire ( and elsewhere in UK)

Who on earth is the driving force behind the Gloucestershire guidelines? Is there one sadly misinformed person behind all this?

Also, how on earth are they allowed to be at odds with the guidelines for the rest of England?

Track back to Gloucestershire CCG and you get to this list of the governing body:

gloucestershireccg.nhs.uk/a...

Choosing one member, I found his special interests and experience telling:

Dr Alan Gwynn, Clinical Commissioning Lead (South Cotswolds)

Practice

Clinical Special Interests

Experience

There are others with identical lack of special interests and experience.

I think people should start putting in complaints and feedback (if it is possible).

Of course, responsibility is behind numerous layers of disclaimer:

The information on this site is guidance and clinicians will still need to use their own clinical judgement to determine the appropriate care for their patients.

The CCG endeavours to ensure that the information contained within the website is correct but does not accept any liability for error or omission howsoever caused and whether by the negligence or omissions of the CCG or otherwise.

Hi,

I agree Cherylclaire,

I suspect most CCGs and Health Boards in UK have similar plans in development.

Hi,

I don't know who the driving force is but I think the reason there is a push to oral B12 tablets in Gloucestershire is financial.

It's far cheaper to prescribe oral tablets or to ask patients to get their own than for surgeries to pay for the nurses'time to give injections.

I think there will be an effort to "sell" this as being easier for patients.

I just hope that any forum members from Gloucestershire will pass the info in the blog post on to other people they know locally who get B12 injections.

Forewarned is forearmed.
