Hi all, been on here a few years but think this is my first post.
Was due my B12 jab 1st May, I have been calling my doctors on a weekly basis to check they were still going ahead with the injections and each time being told "Nothing to worry about, they are continuing as normal" Phoned my docs yesterday morning to be told they are not doing them now and B12 stays in system for 6 months so I will be fine, I told her I wouldn't be fine for another 4 months as I have pernicious anaemia. So receptionist sorted so i got a call of the doctor. He phoned later in the day, told me he had read through my notes and saw that I have Crohns disease so would give me the injection because of that.
I went today for my jab and doctor asked when i was diagnosed with PA, I told him it was about 17/18 years ago, a year or so after i was diagnosed with Crohns. I then got told that there is no record of me having PA and probably haven't got it and although he would give me the injection this time he wrote me out a prescription for tablets to take to see if I could cope without injections. This is the same doctor 4 months ago after me telling him how bad i felt after 8/9 weeks (pins and needles/numbness/dizziness/memory loss etc) he said I could have injection every 8 weeks instead of 12.
I'm totally confused now. Anybody else had anything like this?.... sorry for long post.

As you have b12 and hopefully needles now you wont get anxious fighting g fir what you need from the surgery. I.e getting your 8 weekly I jections that were agreed.
I recently started doing subcutaneous b12 injections as still trying g to find a frequency that will improve my symptoms. New to me too.
But there is no way I'm going back to a very dark place bedbound.
I wrote a very detailed reply on another forum thread with links to symptoms lists, causes of b12 deficiency, info about PA tests, B12 books, B12 websites, UK B12 documents and other B12 info which you might find helpful.
Thanks for the replies Nackapan yes I do have b12 but no needles/syringes as of yet. I asked doc about showing me how to self inject but he just said that he wouldn't recommend it. He was kind of adamant that i should try them (he didn't say he wouldn't give me another injection but just to see if tabs would work instead of injection) and kept asking me how i was diagnosed with PA... i can't remember to be honest, it was so long ago but i'm sure I must have had tests.
I have no intention of doing without injections and in 2 months time i will request it again and see what he says then, hopefully will be different doc as it is unusual to see same doctor at my practice. I just thought it really strange after him agreeing with me a few months ago to let me have 8 weekly to then tell me I most likely do not have PA and to try tablets.
Sleepybunny Thanks for all the info, i'm going to be busy reading and educating myself more on the subject
