B12 Duration!

How many months on an average can it take to fully recover from b12 deficiency with injections?

I know it matters on how much you are deficient and for how long you've been.

But just a general Idea?

Especially if you developed neurological symptoms.

There really is no average!

For myself, I wasn’t given loading doses and received injections every 2 months. This made little difference to how I felt.

After a year or so my injections were stepped up to monthly and that definitely helped me feel more like my old self. Enough to make me realise quite how under par I’d been feeling.

I then started to si weekly and now 5 years or so later I si twice a week and lead a full active life.

So for me it took years rather than months. Maybe a couple of years to feel a better albeit unable to be fully fit and active. However, I’m sure it would have taken less time if I’d been given more frequent injections from the start.

Like you say alot of factors to consider.

I truly believe if yoj younger and get prompt treatment if mag be a shorter time to get symptoms tolerable.

Its certainly not n a linear line.

I find if ag tomrs difficult without proper medical guidance.

Ivd got treatment buf everything hax been a battle

Then there are times of why dont they know what to do with me???

Pushknv alm sord oc drugs on a trail and error basis.J would truly take medication now if one doctor convinced me if was the one that could help with daily function.

I've trialled 3 . All of which unfortunately made me worse. Then a devil of a job to get off them. Even though I read told it wouldng be a problem

So i would try and be patient. Keel up your b12 and keep a diary.

It has taken me 6 years to be symptom free (touch wood). I found that the injections suppressed my symptoms but they would return after week 6/8 after the injection. I have been symptom free now for 24 weeks and I have not had the present cycles injection because the surgery is not providing them.

I became b12 deficient because my diet was verging on vegan and my doctor prescribed omaprezole which was on 6 monthly repeat prescription- I dint know if doctors have been told not to dole these ppi drugs out like smarties but I keep meeting people who are on them without any further checks and they are always amazed when I tell them about b12 and it’s importance to their health. I don’t think they believe me as they can’t believe that their doctor would be so reckless or be so ignorant of b12 deficiency and it’s consequences.
