After fighting to get regular b12 injections I hate to moan but both of my upper arms (where injected) are SO painful. Can I ask if injections could be given in another part of my body? Where? please advise

Yes, the thinner needle is certainly less painful - its just that now I am left with such painful tops to my arms all the time - it wakes me up at night when I turn over.

Horrid. Have a word with the nurse.

I got really sore arms too . My shoulders now clank.

I've got my own now. I did a sc in my stomach. Left a little pale pink area that was a little tender. Not for long though

I'm still having IM at the surgery.

In the district they use your thighs .

they can be done into the thigh muscle.

think they are also sometimes done into the muscles in your buttocks

Hi jillc39

I have my injections in the thighs and have no pain at all but sometimes having them in the arm can be painful during the injection and on occasion can be sore for a few days. I would definitely go for the thigh. Good luck

Ps, also have had a few in the gluteus maximus in the top outside quarter but find them to be the most painful.

Thighs and glutes can also be used.

It seems we’re all different. I find arms and glutes virtually pain free but I really don’t like injections in my thighs.

Even as a nurse I think VitB12 injections are indeed painful. I have tried different sites, giving slow, giving fast, it seems to make no difference. I just go for it and count to 5 with teeth gripped, its short lived and I don't think the injection site is painful afterwards really. I use a blue needle. Wishing you well

and sorry I don't have the best answer xx

Try relax the arm when you get the injection, the more you tense the more painful it is, also you can request to have it in the area above your bum

Hi, Jillc39,

I’ve been having injections for years in my arms , but following a mastectomy was only able to use one arm. This became really painful so I asked to have them in my buttock and have been having this ever since. Much less painful and no soreness after. Your nurse should have no problem with this . Good luck.

I ask for an orange needle to be used in my arms. It hurts less when I do it myself in my thigh muscle.

I do mine in my thigh. I’ve been SI for couple of months. I alternate between to give each one a rest. I read a good tip....when injecting into thigh put pressure on other leg...push down with your foot and this relaxes the other. Always helps.

When I first started jabs, nurses always hit the hip, but I self inject in the thigh. It doesn't hurt at all
