Yes they do work on symptoms due to low b12 . Takes time though.

Is your thyroid well treated ? Difficult for thyroid hormones to work well when your B12 is low. Have they tested Folate - Ferritin and VitD ?

Irregular heartbeat can be a symptom of B12 deficiency, but still needs investigating.

I ignored mine, because I just assumed it was from my B12 deficiency. A metabolics consultant told me that, since it had got a lot worse while all my other symptoms were improving, I should get it checked out by a GP.

After a 24 hour heart monitor, it turned out to be ventricular ectopics. Luckily this is harmless, can start for no known reason and can stop in the same way. The only treatment offered is betablockers, which I didn't want to take. It seems to be getting a bit less frequent and less severe on it's own now.

I hope you've had your heart checked properly.

Have you also had blood tests: folate, ferritin, vitamin D ? These can be low or low-range too.

You shouldn't have to have injections every 12 weeks - guidelines say 2-3 months, so ask for injection every 8 weeks, if you find you can't wait 12 weeks. I felt like I was getting very much worse on 1 every 12 weeks. For some people this is enough, but for a lot of us, not so. Although it is quite common to get worse before you get better, you have been trying for 2 years- if I've understood you properly.

Are you a member of the Pernicious Anaemia Society (PAS) ? Although, as you can imagine, they are really busy at this time, as people are having their injections stopped completely, it is worth joining because if your GP is not helping you to get a frequency that helps you to get better, they might be able to advise you.

It might not have showed up on previous blood tests, because it is not yet part of a general full blood test: I think it should be. That's another fight for another day.

Concentrate on what you need to get better. There is no need for your practice (or just your GP ?) to insist on every 12 weeks. Frequency will be different for everyone, which is why the 12 week frequency only works for some people.

Keep a daily record of a list of symptoms and when you get them: how often, how severe. Record when you have had an injection. This might help your GP to see how long you can last before your symptoms return after your injection. If not, this is when the PAS can help you.

Take someone with you if you can. It can help if you are feeling anxious or if you have memory or cognitive problems as symptoms. You can't always tell if it's going to be a good/bad day until you are there. This is a difficult time for all of us, particularly GPs. You may well have to do all of this by phone. Still useful to have a family member/ partner there for support -if a member of your household.

Good luck.

Your irregular heartbeat can be linked to low B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD. Levels of these need to be optimal for your thyroid hormones to work well in your body. Heart problems can be linked to heart issues - especially T3 - which is very rarely tested. The Levo/T4 you are taking is a storage hormone and needs to convert into the ACTIVE T3 that every cell on your body needs.

Learning about your thyroid is important as so many people are poorly treated which in turn can affect the uptake in the body of vital vitamins and minerals. How much Levo//T4 do you take ?

Thyroid UK is another Forum on HU - good place to learn more !
