Upset and scared

I had the great idea of skipping my injections because I do not have proven deficiency. Stupid idea. So was off of B12 for 7 weeks me think, only sublingual. Well had injection last Friday ,felt pretty good, was able to sleep well and do a bit physical activity until yesterday.

Today I have felt hideous, just so sick and weak, stomach upset. I guess this means I need B12 and feeling bad is just because I skipped those 7 weeks and one shot does not last too long.

But I am just so upset feeling this sick and now fear MS damaging me. Even though I am not experiencing typical MS symptoms. And I only got this sick when I tried to take break from B12.

Well the nurse last Friday said that if you get that symptomatic it's clear sign you really need the shots and it's for life.

Will get injection tomorrow, live next to ski resort and they have 24/7 clinic open during hottest season. I have booked thyroid tests and ask if I can get IF antibody test and order B12 to SI because my current injection has B6 and don't want to go overboard with it.

I am devastated at the moment. Maybe it's because on B12 I feel so good and have gotten used to it, going low just hit you so hard and you can't imagine you felt this sick for years before the injections.

Yea its tempting when you feel ill anyway to test if you can go longer I between injections.

Were you ill on the 7 week break?or did you stop because you were well?

I have tried going 3 weeks as felt stuck with symptoms and each injection wipes out another 2 days for me.

In theory I should be able to go 3 weeks.

I also have b12 deficiency a nd no PA diagnosis.

Thd Gp wanted me to try b12 tablets to see if I can get to 3 weeks.

I dont t think the tablets do much. I had them in anyway as was hoping a year ago to absorb them inbetween injections.

I'm told my b12 deficiency was down to diet when i asked my Gp last week. That doesn't really make sense.

I eat very well and almost everything .

Liver red meat eggs loads if veg ect ect.

So unless just age' stress ,and less acid in my stomach can give such an absorption problem

Who knows. I'm back to 2 weekly and am going to try sc perhaps every other one and k hope to do this at home eventually.

What regime were tih on before the test of 7 weeks? (Did you get a b12 test out of interest after7 weeks) I know no further testing is needed. Sometimes I wonder how high my levels have to be to keep alot of symptoms af bay. My job used to be alot of mrsdurinf and numbers so hard not to think in those terms.

Well dont worry tou have done the test and you know why you need and have b12 .

Hope you pick up soon.

P.s a friend and recently retired Gp said. Just stop the b12 now tiu must have enough on tiur system bh now.

Just goes to show . Training dies not exist at medical school. !!

I felt awful during the break. But I did not do much. Sublingual did benefit a bit if I took it daily basis and just rested.

Otherwise since starting the injections I could go maximum 3 weeks ,so it was this time too. First 3 weeks was ok as I had mostly gotten the injection every 7-12 days for over a year which kept me ok to very well. But I could not imagine I would feel this awful as the longest gap had been just 3 weeks. I was stupid brainfart to think I'd do good.

Like it has always been that day 1 since injection felt drowsy, day 2 pretty good, day 3 would go for a hike up the hill tolerating maximum hear rate 188 and felt fine until day 7 and then it started to feel bad and I booked injection.

Since injection last Friday I felt I tolerated physical activity until yesterday , was shoveling off snow and couple brisk walks. Heart rate not rising to roof and physical feeling on muscles very good but I guess it was a mistake. I used all B12 too rapid. But I don't know how to rest when feeling good!

I do too eat normally and booked also gastropanel test to find out how bad my gut is if I keep getting sick despite normal diet. They always suspect I eat poorly , no I don't!

And yes I learned it the hard way I need B12 😄

Thanks for responding, sometimes you just need to know you are not alone even though you don't hope this **** to anyone.

Yes. I'm learning to pace. I'm useless at it

I used to do everything at speed and multitask.

I've just found a pie that should've been in the fridge in the bread bin!

Distracted by 6 cats wanting their food. I am much slower buf grateful j I managed to get out to a food shop. I now ignore and really dont care about the strange looks i get as I look down with tinted glasses on and a brimmed hat to get round in the shop lights. I've learnt what is above eye level I want (until theh move it!!) Thdn pug oc the shop hat off.

(The pie was saved as not out for long lol)

I'm certainly not up to making pastry and probably will never again. Life is too short.

Your post has helped me. I thought without a PA diagnosis I really should not need all thess injections. Also Gp wanting me to get bigger gaps.

I'm now going to concentrate on trying to dk more with whatever b12 it takes.

Yeah I have not been tested for PA so don't know what causes my high need of B12. Been sick since 1999, slowly getting worse but never bedridden, just intolerance to any physical activity and gut problems.

I never got real balance issues nor normal dizziness just that I get stiff from heels upto my neck which then cause dizziness. After injection all muscle tensity goes away.

Doctors say as I don't look sick I can't be sick. Yep.

It is what it is, I have felt a bit stupid needing B12 w/o diagnose. It is silly to ask why and think what if. Nothing has ever helped me as much as B12 so should be greatful and just take it.

Yeah I felt ok so thought oh maybe I don't need it and during the break I tried all possible ways to feel as good as I feel on injection but it never happened.

Now I feel as sick as on the break. I hate when it happens so fast hard to book injection in time. Thats why going SI.

Sorry you're struggling.

I've SI every other day for 14 months now, & it's been a god send.

I tried to spread the injections out but soon learned it was a bad idea & had to revert back to every other day.

I still get fatigued if I over do things that I used to take for granted, as I'm very stubborn & refuse to let it beat me, but it does beat me, so I'm learning to pace myself & just accept that is how it is now.

I can still do stuff, I just take my time now as if I don't, I'll regret it later.

Good luck & I hope you're feeling better soon when you get the shots regular.

Sending you a big hug Justina.........you will feel better again but may tale a little time.

I have to inject everyday........I tried to miss a jab so every other day.......nope not a good idea! I too havent been formerly disgnosed with PA -intrinsic test said negative but I had all the classic symptoms......& would have ended up in a wheelchair without it. Am not fully better but a whole heap better than I was before the injections. Its good the nurse sees the need for you to have them more frequently. She sounds a good one!

Hope you feel better soon

Thanks 😊

What symptoms you had?

I seem to be so odd to doctors as my main symptom is exercise intolerance, poor gut and just weakness. I have MS but no normal MS symptoms , well I had only mild changes and some lesions in my brain, might not even cause any.

But the biggest issue seem to be that I have no pain. Haven't even taken a painkiller for 15 years. Thats what they consider a major symptom and because it's missing I can't be ill. Sigh. 😄

The symptoms you describe may be nothing at all to do with the B12 injection - particularly the upset stomach. If you haven't had similar reactions to B12 injections in the past then I would be inclined to think that it is just an unfortunate co-incidence.

Actually if did figure out the upset stomach. I tried iodine again. Can't stand it even as little as try, had also high heartrate. I just felt desperate as I had felt so much better after the injection last Friday and did not remember how sick iodine can make me.

I do get bloated when B12 drops but this was not it.
