Hi all, I've had B12 since last year. I didn't know l had it untill the blood test show it. Have the injections every 12 weeks, now I've got vitamin c deficiency. Come 4 weeks before l am due to have another injection I've noticed brain fog, dropsies, walking into things, my spelling terrible by then and you forgot to write something down I have a brain freeze. My words get all numbered and I can't get my words out sometimes as well, Very frustrating as I've got a promotion at work, some days I feel giving my job up! I would like the doctors give it me every 8 weeks but they're not listening to me, they can't see the full impact it has on our lives

Have you tried writing to your GP(copy to the practice administrator) pointing out that the BNF now says that injections should be every 8-12 weeks if there is no neurological involvement and 8 weeks if there is neurological involvement. Not quite sure what you mean by dropsies but suspect that that and the walking into things may be indicative of neurological involvement. If you have kept a diary of your symptoms then you could enclose that and request that you be treated in accordance with the current treatment standards and have injections every 8 weeks.

Unfortunately the vit c deficiency is probably indicative of the underlying absorption problem that left you on B12 - ie gut condition - so it isn't going to reverse with B12 treatment though you could ask for a referral to a gastro as it isn't a common absorption problem to go with B12 and may indicate that there is something else going on in the gut.
