48 year old female had B-12 deficiency for 19 years on injections every 10 weeks. This last year i am struggling with extreme fatigue, the tiredness is so bad i had to go part time at work. Went to doctors had blood tests, my B-12 is fine but my folic acid is rock bottom. Put on 5mg of folic acid daily, stuggling with shortness off breath, no appetite, feeling sick, headaches. So tired. Is this all normal, i just want my life back.

Have you had your iron checked? This can cause shortness of breath and fatigue.
And vit D?
Also being a female and 48 it could also have to do with declining hormones. I'm 47 and I certainly know some of my symptoms are hormonal because they get a lot better the day before my period and 2 days in and then steadily get worse.
Yor low folate may cause those symptoms. On 5000 mcg a day your folate levels should quickly rise. If your fatigue was caused by macrocytic anaemia caused by the low folate then it may take a while to fade as the body will need to make new red cells to replace the faulty ones.
Once that's happened, you should be able to cope with 400 mcg of folic acid a day.
