Nerve repair - time it takes -evidence?

As explained before, my GP has taken advice from a haematologist on the likely time for repair of symptoms including neuro symptom. He told her that 4 weeks is the most usual time and nothing much more gets repaired after that. In the light of this statement does anyone know of any research done or any professional advice offered on the repair time to refute this 4 week claim? A link would be good. Thank you in advance.

Yet another haematologist who thinks that the only effects of a B12 deficiency are to the blood.

From ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Patient A. “Gradually, her symptoms abated. Two years later, there were still bouts of pain, numbness, and paresthesia, but she was able to walk supported only by a walking stick.”

Patient E. “Six months after diagnosis and initiation of high-dose hydroxocobalamin treatment, the patient still had considerable neurologic damage, loss of sensations in her feet and legs, and inability to walk without the use of a rollator walker.“

From pdfs.journals.lww.com/md-jo...

Half of those treated with B12 had totally recovered from their neurological symptoms after 6 months of treatment. Half had not. The degree of pre-treatment neurological damage was an important factor determining if recovery happened.

From bloodjournal.org/content/bl...

“Residual disability, estimated to affect 6% of neuro- logic patients,4 is the most feared outcome of cobalamin deficiency and is likely to persist if still present after 6 to 12 months of treatment.”

So 6% of those with neurological damage never recover. The only way to tell those patients is after 6 to 12 months of treatments.
