Hi everyone,I was reading a recent post with a link to patient info that had 'b12d and acromegaly'in the same sentence, this got me thinking about a DEXA scan I had as part of a well woman check I had in my 50th year. The results came back that my bones are a third larger than they should be so I was sent for another one to double check(same result came back)and then to a specialist to check to see if I had acromegaly or some other disease ,he examined my hands and jaw and decided that my big bones are 'normal for me'(a phrase I have had said about me a lot over the years!)I never thought before but wonder if there is some connection with PA,if anyone else has/knows someone with a similar experience it would be interesting to hear, thank you

big bones
Are you very tall? A big clue for acromegaly.
Please inquire for additional tests, acromegaly is a often undetected (even by professionals) and leads to serious complications. Ask for growth hormone tests. If developed after puberty your height is not affected only existing bone structures thicken. My father was fighting heart problems and uncontrollable type 2 diabetes for more than a decade before being diagnosed w acromegaly. After surgery ( of the pituitary gland) his diabetes is significantly improved and we are hoping his cardiovascular issues will diminish too. I myself have B12 deficiency but I’m not aware of him having a B12 issue.
wow, thanks very much for that information McRose,I too am having trouble with diabetes(my hba1c was 15 this april)I've just had a blood test for this and am due back at the surgery on 12th of sept so I will ask for this test,I'm sure it wasn't tested for at the time and it was only a blood test last year for another problem that high blood sugar was found as I had no symptoms for it,thanks again
