I finally came clean to my GP that I'm self injecting B12. You could tell he was a little out of his comfort zone but has agreed to support me and monitor levels etc. Such a relief!
Amazing GP: I finally came clean to my... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Amazing GP
That’s great news . A definite plus for you . I wish all GPs were the same .
Well done. Eliminate each source of stress one at a time and the B12 will last longer- that’s my experience
That's Brilliant, I did the same but told him no matter what he says I'm going to do it anyway and there is nothing he can say to stop me as I know it's making a difference. He agreed and takes tests and will even prescribe the ampules but the are expensive
Good good good .Since 2004 I have had years of on /off treatment, never enough. I gave my GP copies of NICE guidelines and other bitsfrom PA soc. Eventually I asked if I could self inject, the reason for only doing 3 mthly being cost of nurses time. He new that I would do it anyway, but said 'Yes, everybody wins'.One of the nurses gave me a 10 min lesson, I ordered all the necessary stuff on line including a snapper,I have dodgy hands. I was told I could get a sharps box by prescription , but 2 weeks later the rules had changed and GP said 'Get it from Amazon!!' Evenso I am so pleased I have at last got a sensible GP.
Good luck to you
Thank you jaybirdxNHM. I really hate self injecting and have really tried to go longer periods but I find after 3 weeks I'm 'walking through treacle' again. I was diagnosed in India and put on bi weekly injections into the buttockd there. I can't believe how painful the injection into the arm muscle is by comparison. Glad we both have supportive GPs. Good luck to you too
