Oh the brain fog!!

Just to bring a little humour to the daily struggles we all go through.

After just making a coffee with cold water from a kettle I didn't even boil, it reminded me of a thread fbirder started a while ago, that I saw sometime ago when looking back through some old threads.

What is the funniest or the daftest thing you've done due to a foggy brain?

Mine is still when I went to the bathroom for a shower, stripped off apart from my socks & switched the shower on. Had a tiddle & blew my nose.

Took off my socks, threw the tissue I'd just blown my nose on into the sink & threw my socks in the toilet, before I'd flushed it!!

Why would I do that 🤔🙄😁

I spent ages the other day trying to find a word when describing someone to my husband.

Me: He's very.... you know...

Hubby: Tall?

Me: No... he's... It's how he talks...

Hubby: Loud?

And on it went. Until I eventually found the word, 'He's very articulate!' Oh the irony! :D

Oh, and I just remembered.

For Mother's Day, after spending around 10 minutes looking in the shop at cards, I got my mum a Mothers day card that read "Happy Birthday" but didn't realise till I saw it at the side of my Brother's cards, on the hearth.

My mum still hasn't mentioned it, so I'll just put it down to being hereditary 😁

My worst example of Brain Fog wasn't really amusing.

I was going to London, on my own, for the evening. I was going to a lecture theatre that I'd been to half a dozen times previously. When I arrived at Victoria station I went to the Tube and realised I had no idea where I was going, or how to get there. And I'd forgotten my phone.

Looking back, I'm amazed I didn't panic even a little bit. I just got on a tube train at random and waited for inspiration. After two stops it suddenly hit me - I needed to go to Holborn. From there it all came rushing back to me.

The next day I started to get worried. Was this the first sign of dementia? If it was, it was also the last sign. Because nothing that bad has happened in the last four years.

I can relate to all these examples.

Memory lapses when it comes to peoples names is the standout for me as Ive always been really good at recalling names, until about a year ago. Now names can completely escape me. I was asking my 12 yr old the other day 'who's the fast runner at school?,you know, Therese's son'. (I see this family regularly) And she replied 'oh you mean Charlie?'

And i said 'Charlie.....charlie....hmmmm....'. My daughter was right. But his name still did not compute...like I was hearing his name for the first time.

I can also head into town (on good days) to do some errands....then forget for a few panicked seconds as to where im meant to be driving too.

Definately dementia- type symptoms! i'm on number 7 of SI loading doses. i really hope my brain function returns to normal one day

I've gone into a room to get something specific before, get there just a few seconds later & scratch my head as I don't have a clue what I went there for! Eventually after swearing at myself a few times it will come back to me.

Oh there are so many!! Lol. I decided one morning to paint my nails (what’s left of them anyway lol). Managed that fine. Later on in in the day I made myself a cup of tea and made my wonderful partner a black coffee (he doesn’t drink black coffee by the way. Another moment). I went in the fridge to get the milk for my tea and there in front of me, chilling quite nicely on the fridge shelf was my Nail Varnish......took my poor brain to realise what had happened lol.

When I was diagnosed with PA last year, I was also given a prescription for Folic acid tablets. I picked them up from pharmacy, got home, took one & put away in cupboard where I've put all my medication over time. I went to get one the next day & they weren't there, they still haven't turned up!

Oh dear lol

I've also had other stuff just vanish that still hasn't turned up. These things have never been in the fridge,(I've checked) 😁

In my defence, instead of telling myself I'm losing the plot, I just tell myself I have a ghost. Not sure which would be worse though!

I threw the teaspoon into the bin after making a cup of tea.

Oh the times I've done similar.

A few months ago I bought a new cheap bottle of vinegar with a top that you had to pierce a hole in.

After piercing the top, 2 minutes later I unscrewed the top & poured vinegar onto my dinner & ruined it.

I just posted on HU (on the thyroid site) and asked for thoughts on my results that i attached.

I hope my brain comes back. I was quite worried about the state of it. On bad days I have to stay home - I have had minor car accidents as the result of brain fog and fatigue.

Thought of another one!! i was listening to my friend talking about home improvements they were thinking of doing eg putting in a tennis court.

Now, these days i think before i speak, and in my head i visualised her front yard, then back yard, before suggesting 'why dont you put a pool in?'

My friend looked at me strangely which prompted me to think again, then i remembered she already has a pool - its off to the side of the house- and we were only there 2 weeks earlier with the kids for a pool party !!!!
