Pernicious anaemia hangovers/numbness/racing heart

Hi

I have PA and have always noticed hangovers to last quite sometime. However last Sunday when I woke up from a night of partying I couldn’t move my legs or arms. My heart was beating very fast and hard, and I even found trying to talk was difficult. It was a really scary experience. Has anyone else went through anything similar?

Thanks

I’m afraid that drinking alcohol, will use up your B12 at a greater rate , and deplete it . Hence the symptoms . Perhaps have an extra injection before going partying , or drink less alcohol when you are there .

It’s too long ago for me to remember ever having the energy for a night of partying. However, in the early days of PA when my B12d was under treated, a couple of glasses of wine and bed by ten could give me a hangover and nausea lasting a good 2 days.

Now that I si weekly, which seems to suit me, I can live dangerously and have a small beer on top of a glass and a half of wine and just feel a bit off the next day. Progress! 😄

Yup!

Only answer is to party less, I'm afraid!

More B12 and supporting supplements - a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement plus extra folate, potassium, magnesium and iron, ideally from your diet should help.

I can’t drink at all. It really bothers me. Not that I ever drank a lot, but even a half doesn’t sit right anymore. It makes my dizziness that I am still having worse and I will wake up with a headache.
