My pharmacist friend warns that many drugs are becoming difficult to source, even paracetamol and she works in an NHS hospital.

I am in South Africa and there are no stocks of B12 ampoules anywhere. Pharmacist said there is a shortage and no one can tell me when there will be again! I need my injections otherwise I don't know how else to get enough B12.

Jengo - likely to be more expensive but have you looked into sources selling injectable B12 for non-health/cosmetic reasons - may not work but might be worth a try.

Thanks, in South Africa B12 is by prescription only, so if pharmacies don't have stocks no one else will.

there can be some quite complex rules about medications but in general they apply to products supplied for medical use - but the rules governing the use of the same product for cosmetic purposes can be different.

Injectable B12 is prescription only in the UK and the US when it is supplied for medical use - but not when it is supplied for cosmetic reasons - so it may be worth looking in to. We have had one member in the US report that they go to a slimming clinic to get their B12 and people in the UK have managed to source from similar providers

I buy B12 from 2 sources. Thompson's of Australia. Piping Rock USA. Sublingual tablets but they work too well my GP says.

Most script medication can be sourced from outside the EU anyway. So all they need to do is set up accounts and order.

MarsBarKid, sourcing from Australia makes sense if you are based in Australia but if there are sources closer to the UK

It depends what source you use for information on the effects of Leaving the EU. Anybody who restricted their news to the BBC, the Daily Mail, THe Express or The Sun wouldn't have heard about potential problems with the drug supply. Or, if they did mention it, it would have been labelled 'Project Fear'.

Other news sources weren't so reticent. theguardian.com/politics/20...

Jeeez I be hung drawn quartered if brought that into house and son never talk to me again.Alas this info come from different source Brish medical journal the guardian some clever bloke on tv 4chemist one being Boots and worse of all the consultents one ophalmic one breast cancer and lastly oropedic.I bupa so pay for 30 mins I get money’s worth and chat to them.Very interesting when talk off the record..

it do make sense how it would effect our laws but unpalatable. As it already started sourcing stuff then it not going get better. Was wondering about stock piling my B12 but I sure not recommended.

I have a lot to do with epilepsy organisations they to are worried many meds are expensive as many people take 2nd generation meds they will find 1st generation meds will be encouraged and that not good.
