Blood test for B12

I have been having B12 for 4years every 12wks.All of a sudden they have asked me to go for a blood test.It was originally 120..

Should I refuse because I feel a problem coming on.Or should I go with it and fight my corner if necessary.

I feel so well. Will just have to cross my fingers I suppose.

Has anyone else been in this situation.

Thankyou

Ask what the blood test is for. I was told blood tests for levels b12 while on injections was not necessary? I'm new to this and actually asked for a blood test to make sure my folate and pottassium ect okay. I'm expecting the B12 to be off the scale as only finished first loading dose . As still feel ill got my bloods done.

If you worried ask their policy on B12 injections or ask has it changed . It might be for other things?

I do hope you don't have a fight if you so well on your regime

Ask why they want a blood test when all the experts say it is unnecessary. Download this document from the BCSH (The British Committee on Standards in Haematology - Britain's Biggest Blood Brains)onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi...

where it says

Maintenance treatment for patients presenting without neurological deficit is with hydroxocobalamin 1000lg i.m.every 3 months. Those with initial neurological deficit should receive hydroxocobalamin 1000lg i.m. every 2 months. No further testing for cobalamin levels is required.

Ask why they want to waste NHS money.

In fact, I would write a letter. Include the BCSH document with that line highlighted and cc it to the local news radio. They're always looking for filler and the local NHS wasting money is always news.

I got a blood test about a year after treatment began and I too was worried they’d stop my 3 monthly injections. 6 was after injection level was 1000 but doctor ignored it and when nurse who did injection told me result , just said that’s because you’re on injections now ! So you may be lucky like me .
