Deplin is a trade name for methylfolate. It is not available on prescription here in the UK. I guess that’s because there’s no real evidence that it is any good for treating depression (it’s intended use)

About 9% of the population of the population have a mutation (MTHFR homozygous C677T) that reduces the efficiency of the production of methylfolate. Most of those 9% have no problems (the body just makes more of the enzyme) but a few may benefit from taking methylfolate supplements instead of folic acid. But, even then, they don’t need the stupidly high doses (5600 mcg) found in Cerefolin.

If you feel that methylfolate might be worth trying then get 400 mcg capsules from Amazon and take one a day.

All due respect, extensive professional experience with Cerefolin and Deplin, as well as published research show significant improvement in certain populations using psychotropic/depression medications in tandem with Cerefolin/Deplin. My question was with regard to any using Cerefolin/Deplin for folic acid supplementation. The consideration is the malfunctioning intrinsic factor affects the gut-processing of all necessary vitamins, not just B12. In that Cerefolin/Deplin are the only formulary of folic acid in the US that passes the blood brain barrier and is not processed by the gut I suspect it might prove to be remarkably beneficial to those with PA, such as I am witnessing. I wondered the incidence and experience of its use among those with PA. I know we all want to share the most helpful tips we find, for the benefit of each other.

With all due respect, no it doesn't. Intrinsic Factor is an extremely specific transport protein that will only carry B12 and molecules of a very similar shape across the gut wall. Folic acid is a totally different shape an cannot bind to IF in the slightest.

Cerefolin/Deplin are the only formulary of folic acid in the US that passes the blood brain barrier

Nonsense. It contains methylfolate. You can buy that from Amazon.

Irrelevant. All forms of folate can cross the blood-brain barrier and all forms of folate are easily converted to methylfolate.
