Medicine from the EU

My ears pricked up this morning when someone called Julie, on Radio 4's 'Today' programme, voiced her concern about possible delays in getting medicine from the EU if there are hold ups at the docks in the event of a no deal Brexit....

Although Theresa May told her she has a personal interest in this, as her diabetic medication is supplied by Denmark, she didn't actually answer the question or offer any solution ?!!

😫

PS. Looks like B12 is still on offer at Versandapo.de if anyone thinking of stocking up.

You have voiced the concerns of so many! It scared me significantly before last June and gets worse.

Thank you for posting.

I've stocked up Denise as, like you must, get through B12 quite quickly injecting every day and who knows how long this is going to go on.....

I suppose it could be worse - heart went out to the mums with sick children on drugs for epilepsy etc, who have to rely on prescriptions and worrying if stocks run out.

If the worst happens, I suppose we could source some crickets - just remembered that Marz posted something on TUK called 'anyone for cricket' 🤗 - crickets being a source of B12😳

Did they read our minds - eating crickets in the news today and you can buy them in Sainsbury's !

I don't like the sound of eating crickets or I'd have "liked" your reply! 😉😁😋

I’ve been planning for his for several months. I’ve been refilling my repeat prescriptions early. By March I should have four or five months worth. I’ll be buying a years supply of B12 in January.

Oh crikey just collected my prescription which was s few days late as they struggled to get it!

Funny I had a friend tell me he was ordering prescriptions a bit early too. Why am I not doing this?!

Have to confess I used to order thyroid medication early to make sure I had sufficient to feel well until I discovered I could buy natural dessicated thyroid from abroad.

My daughter has the same problem with T3 now unavailable on prescription at all !

My friend takes thyroid medication. I'm worried about Pregabalin particularly as if I stop suddenly, I would feel really terrible! I'm also worried about my medication for hereditary angioedema (a rare condition which is treated with blood plasma derived products). I fear that the more common medicines may be prioritised for stockpiling, although you would hope they decide this by severity of impact if the medication were unavailable (likelihood of adverse effects).

That must be a truly terrible worry for you.......

wencan only hope humanity (or the power of big pharma😳 ) saves the day:

Last July, In a joint statement on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry in the UK......

“Today, Parliament has sent a clear message that patients and public health should be a top priority for the Government in these negotiations. Every month, 37 million packs of medicine arrive in the UK from the EU and 45 million move the other way. Therefore, it is essential that the UK continues to participate in the EMA (European Medicines Agency) after Brexit, as set out in the Brexit White Paper and in the Prime Minister’s Mansion House speech.”

There must be a huge number of people worrying about the future supply of their medicines. I think "Big Pharma" want to sell their products; whether the UK government will sort this issue out properly I'm not so sure of! I suppose it's possible the pharma companies may not be so bothered by a break in sales to the UK (they can absorb small losses and have other lucrative markets).... it's all so unclear and we're left with guesswork. ☹️

Does anyone have a link to Versandpo in English. Tried googling it but still get German and it won't allow 'UK' as my address for registration. Thanks

Wondering if this link given for Versandepo.de might help to take you straight through and then pay through PayPal, which already has address details ?

I finally worked out how to translate the site, put in my order, and NO SHIPPING TO THIS COUNTRY (USA). I'm bummed. The price is so much less than what I'm paying, too.

I’ve been very worried about this as I’ve only just started alternate day. Just purchased 200 from Versandapo with expiration dates 2021 and think I’ll get some more after Christmas. Just so I’ve got a good stockpile going in case I need to stay on alternate day for a few years. As if I didn’t have enough to worry about.

Given that the Mars company is reporting they will or might have to suspend production of their eponymous bars around brexit due to ingredient issues, I think many are concerned about the possible impact even on medicines that are manufactured within the UK.

Wow - that really puts it into perspective!

It is a worry, I've just received a 100 vial shipment from Amazon .de, I've now got over 300+ vials enough for every other day injections for 2 years at least so not panicking as much now .

All expiry dates are early 2021

🤗I know just what you mean! Was thinking of ordering more just today, as an email from Versandepo.de popped into inbox with the offer still available - realised I'm going through mine quickly at the moment and there are warnings of even longer delays at the ports.
