Have you been tested for diabetes? I don’t know much about it but weight loss and frequent urination are symptoms I believe.

Hi JanD236, all the bloods are ok including diabetes..

Some people, myself included, have an adverse reaction to methylcobalamin. Try switching to cyanocobalamin. This is better than methylcobalamin and is less likely to cause side effects.

Hi Fbirder, first I have used Cyanocobalamin for 45 days .. initially it was ok but later I had severe palpitations then switched to methylcobalamin.. i was really happy until last week but now having above mentioned symptoms..i have severe neurological symptoms .. like head numbness & itchy scalp..frequent urination ..

When I first started taking Methylcobabamin I felt strange, nauseous, headaches, palpitations. I was advised by a support group that the B12 could have upset my potassium levels. I drank fresh orange juice, ate chocolate and bananas to raise the potassium level and felt much better. If you are having neuro symptoms I'm afraid oral B12 won't help, only injections will repair the damage, and I speak from experience here. A year on Methylcobabamin, level 377 and no difference. Started injections and feel a whole world better. Your sleep disturbance could be due to having low night time cortisol levels. I think adrenal glands regenerate overnight and use cortisol to do so. If levels are insufficient adrenalin is used instead, which wakes us up and we find it hard to get back to sleep. Your weight loss is quite dramatic. As its unintentional loss (I assume) and you've tested negative for diabetes I would have a chat with your GP just to rule out other causes.

Hi Eliza290510, Thank you so much for your inputs,

GP will not prescribe any injections For repair neurological symptoms as bloods are with in range...As I understood correctly if the B12 levels are in range cortisol will work properly right? with regards to weight loss i have seen GP couple of times and finally he referred to Gastroenteritis appointment which will take 18 weeks. He is not considering emergency appointment as my bloods were ok.

Which form of B12 injection would you suggest for neurological disorders?

My GP originally refused to treat me when my level was 180 but I pointed out that after a year of taking 1000mcg Methylcobabamin daily my level was only 377 and I had neuro symptoms so there must be a problem. I had tested negative for intrinsic factor antibodies, but probably falsely. I gave him copies of all the various treatment guidelines, and he accepted I did need injections. As he would only give me 1 injection a week for 4 weeks, then 3 monthly, and I felt so desperately tired I started self injecting to top up. I used cyanocobalamin 1mg/1ml. I would suggest trying to persuade your GP to start injections as its probably advisable to have the first one at the surgery just in case of an adverse reaction. I'm not sure of the relationship between B12 levels and cortisol. My night time level was low, but at the time so was my B12, so it's possible they may be linked.

I just recently was advised by my doctor to beging cyanocobalamin 1000mcg sublingual and had stomach upset and I was shaky and nervous with trouble sleeping. I couldn't imagine it was the b12, so I stopped and let the symptoms go away and then tried it again. Same thing happened...the discomfort seemed to grow the longer I was on it. I was told to try the methylcobalamin next, and I'm nervous it's going to do the same thing. I thought it might be the artificial sweeteners in the cyanocobalamin sublingual, so I tried to found a methylc. without them...tough to find, but I managed to find one with lactose instead of artificial sweeteners. Good luck to you...I hope your situation straightens out.
