Still no injection

I'm not having much luck getting my injections because I'm in the "normal range" still having symptoms though and now all the locum doctor was on about yesterday was my high cholesterol(following yet another blood tesr). Which I forgot were raised last time they took me off the injections. Did a bit of research yesterday and saw that b12 helps lower cholesterol. This doctor told me I'd have a heart attack or stroke within 10 years.... Thanks for that! I don't know where to go from here tbh. I've sent in a complaint letter and they restarted them again, on to stop them again 3 months on. I know my body and what it needs but they just don't listen!!

Hi,

Sorry to hear this. Have you looked at the links I mentioned in your thread "I've sent a 7 page letter"?

I did. I'm going to include some of these points in my next letter. Xx

Does anybody know of any links about b12 lowering cholesterol

there is one genetic variant that responds to low B12 by causing high cholesterol so people with this variant would benefit from B12 but not aware of anything else.

I'm afraid I didn't keep a copy of the link to the relevant article on pubmeds and can't remember what post it was in response to - some time ago now.

Thanks. I have found a few bits myself. I'm sure that it's all connected somehow. My cholesterol only seems to increase when my b12 drops to a certain level - it's just this level is within their ridiculous guidelines. Xx

the 'guidelines' aren't ridiculous its just that they don't understand how to use them.

The normal range is where most people are okay - so a guide for diagnosis - but just because most people are okay in that range doesn't mean everyone is - so projecting back and ruling B12 out just because someone is in range is at best bad logic ... and at worst its falling into the same trap as leads to prejudice and bias - using generalisations to fit people into categories that they don't actually belong to.

In terms of logic it's like trying to determine someone's shoe size from their height. Taller people may generally have bigger feet but that doesn't mean all of them do!

Hi,

Found this study that mentions B12 deficiency linked to higher cholesterol levels.

Sleepybunny Thanks for this 😊 my levels are 5.9 for cholesterol, and I'm sure the same happened when my b12 levels dropped last time. They are sending me for an ECG on Monday which I think is a bit dramatic because I'm in the category of high - not even very high or extremely high. I want to say to them give me a b12 injection and I bet my levels of cholesterol go down. They just won't listen though as my levels are within guidelines - 435. I was surprised it was so low because I SI twice in April and had an injection from the practice end of May. These recent bloods were done in July. I had my over 40 check beginning of June and cholesterol levels were fine. They are just not interested in any of my symptoms and palm me off all the time. I'm getting my health care provider at work involved for a second opinion and am also thinking of changing surgeries. The nurses were are am at the minute are great it's just the GPS and you never see the same 1 twice - it's exhausting having to go through the tale every time 😣

Thanks elsiedee . Does anybody know anything about the b12 nasal spray or oral spray.... Or is it best to stick with SI until I can get my doctors to give me an injection. Anybody know if b12 injections can increase cholesterol. I've just booked my Neuro appointment for their opinion and the appointment isn't until 2nd Jan 2019.... I know my b12 will have dropped again by then.... Maybe I'll go below the guidelines and they will have to give it me... Just who knows what damage that will do? Why don't they take into account symptoms and not your blood test number. Is a constant twitchy eye a symptom of b12? I've read it can be lack of magnesium, taking magnesium tablets and still twitching. I really don't feel right and wish that the doctors would listen the only thing that makes me feel better is the b12 shot from the nurse.... 😞
