Stopped again

After my initial joy of having injections reinstated just 3 months ago I went today for my next injection and was refused. I demanded to see a doctor but the doctor who had said they could be reinstated again(After my complaint letter) was on holiday for 3 weeks. Good for him! I saw another doctor who is making me have blood tests again on Friday. I know what is going to happen they'll come "within nhs range" and they won't let me have them again! Even though I'm suffering with tiredness(even after 9 hrs sleep!) Light headeness, yellow tinge to my eyelids and pale skin. No neurological symptoms yet but give them time. I'm so sick of this! My question to you guys is - if I change surgeries am I just going to face the same barriers and can I get injections privately and if so how much? I really didn't get on with SI but will do it on Friday after my blood tests. So frustrated!!!

Send copies to all of the doctors involved and the practice manager along with a letter asking to be treated using that regimen. Say that you’re worried about permanent nerve damage if you do not receive adequate treatment (don’t specifically threaten legal action, just leave it hanging in the air). Ask for the letter to be included in your records. Point out the numerous times the paper says that ‘no further testing is required’.

Thank you for this. Did send something similar along with my complaint letter last time but here we are again 3 months later

Have you got a friend/relative that could do the injections for you?

Sounds like you really need to be 'in control'. Then, if you get injections from your surgery, that's good but, if also have ability to inject at home, you'd be able to suppliment your NHS injections, as and when necessary.

Unfortunately, the Medical professionals and other Health care professionals really are not up to date, not educated enough to recognise/treat this. Neither are they, seemingly, interested enough to find out more about it, in spite of seeing the benefits to their patients when they have sufficient treatment.

Where are you injecting. I’ve only just started, however a GP at work advised me that when I’m injecting in the deltoid muscle I should actually inject at an angle as due to my build, if I did it at 90 degrees, there’s a risk I will hit the bone, and if I did end up doing that I would either pass out or feel like I’m going to.

In my leg I think the fact that I'm passing out is due to me not liking needles - ironic that I'm going out of my way to try and get 1, but even this irony goes over the doctors head....

Hi sorry to hear of your troubles with your doctor. You are not alone! You can get b12 injections in health spas and in the reviv chain they cost £29. Hope that helps

I tried complaining and my doctors still treated me like a hypochondriac idiot.......until when i made my second complaint as problems were on going and gave examples where I had been forced to sort problems out as they hadn't she was still ignoring me until I said with the right amount of anger "do I have to take this further to get anyone to listen to me!" You could feel her jump on the other end of the phone so I took my opportunity and told her what i needed, most of them have been better since!

Id also put it in writing exactly as fbirder suggests--- don't mention legal action at this point but word it in some way to let them know it's a possibility.

The stress over these drs isn't doing you any good and si will put you in control. I'd guess you felt light headed as you held your breath, very common thing to do. Try injecting into your leg at an angle, not straight down. I did sub cutaneous injections until I felt comfortable to go deeper into the muscle. Honestly, I am squeamish but I think nothing of it now, no pain, never a drop of blood. If it had been left to my GP I'd never had got help.

Hello there, it's a joke isn't it, I went back Monday after been told I'd get them more often to be told by the nurse no.. I told her the doctor rang me to say I could have them she finally gave in .. go9d you get sorted

It is a joke. When I'm thinking my only hope is to SI or get privately. Grieves me a little when the injection only cost the nhs 60p.
