Hello. I'm kindna new here but believe I've posted before. I was wondering if anyone has used the B12 Eligen pill which it states that it is just as effective as B12 injections for PA. I am having difficulties getting my doctor to give me additional shots(I get them monthly) as sometimes I get the jelly legs before the month is up, I live in the USA and need a prescription to obtain b12 injections, so not an option to self inject. The reason that my doctor will not give me additional is because my serum b12 shows my level as >2000. I tried to explain to him that he needed to test me for active b12 but he was very dismissive. I've ordered these B12 eligen pills, but would like to know if anyone else has ever taken them and do they work?

If you have Pernicious Anaemia ,you will not obtain benefit from any oral supplement . Injections are your only method .
It’s the same here in U.K. We can only obtain injections with a prescription .I get my B12 from online pharmacies in Germany . (Hydroxocobalamin form of B12 )
If you are prepared to self inject you can obtain B12 ampoules from vitaminquick.com (in Florida) They only supply Methylcobalamin ampoules.
vitaminb12online.com (in Australia) supply Cynocobalamin,Hydroxocobalamin and Methylcobalamin ampoules with the necessary needles ,syringes etc . Shipping included in the price .
Your doctor should know that once supplementation with B12 injections has started , blood tests are a waste of time . Your reading will always be very high . Your symptoms are to be treated not blood test results. There is a medical leaflet to that effect , that you can download , print out and show to him/her It can be found on this site .
Hope this is of help to you .
It’s unlikely that oral B12 will do much, if anything for you. The B12 molecule is too large and too water soluble to be easily absorbed without help from Intrinsic Factor.
But it can’t hurt to try it. Some people do report beneficial effects. For me, I can take 10,000 mcg a day and feel no effects.
