I get it from my doctor (I have a fortnightly prescription) and from various sites in Germany. So far I’ve used amazon.de, versandapo.de and my care.de all seem equally as good.

Links to,places you can get everything you need:

Hydroxocobalamin 1mg in 1 ml x 100 (boxes of 10 ampoules also available)

versandapo.de/en/8614/38623...

This has been on special offer and last time I looked, it was out of stock - so here's another supplier, just in case (I've bought from both):

mycare.de/en/online-kaufen/...

Other supplies (syringes, needles, sharps disposal box, alcohol skin wipes):

medisave.co.uk/b-d-2ml-plas... (2ml syringes better than 1ml - easier to draw up B12 and easier to handle than thinner 1ml syringes)

medisave.co.uk/b-d-microlan... Green needles for drawing up)

medisave.co.uk/b-d-microlan... (Blue needles for injecting)

medisave.co.uk/sharpsguard-... (Sharps Bin for disposal of ampoules, needles and syringes)

medisave.co.uk/medisave-pro... (Alcohol injection swabs)

ADDITIONAL SUPPLIER

apotalis.de/search/result?t...

Note: the German sites for B12 don't all have English translation pages. If you don't use a search engine that translates pages for you, look in the pinned posts to the right of this page, tap the view all button and you'll see a post that offers details about how to translate foreign language websites.

Good luck 👍

For some reason , best known to “the powers that be” , we are unable in the U.K, to obtain the harmless B12 ampoules without a prescription .

But we can obtain them from many German online pharmacies . These pharmacies are all strictly controlled by the German health authorities . So you can buy from them with confidence . The ampoules are mostly supplied as 1mg x 1ml ampoule or 1mg x 2ml. So you need to decide which one you prefer . I prefer to inject one with the smaller amount of fluid . That make is called Rotexmedica B12 depot .

The other one —1mg x 2ml— is called Hevert B12 depot .

Suppliers —- versandapo.de ( you need to translate this site )

mycare.de in English - Has site in English . Their shipping is expensive .

Apotalis apotheke.de ( you need to translate )

Amazon.de in English —they offer ampoules from different pharmacies , but some do not ship to U.K.

The cheapest way is to order 100 . The use by date is at least 2 years hence . You can also buy a pack of 10 and multiples thereof .

So far I’m refering to the Hydroxocobalamin form of B12 . This is the type used in UK NHS . There is another form called Cynocobalamin. Which was used on the past . This is not so efficient . It is also cheaper . So do enlarge th picture to make sure you get Hydroxocobalamin. NOT Cynocobalamin. It’s alwats printed on the outside of the packet . So now best of luck 🍀

Just to add to Wedgewood's very comprehensive reply :)

I buy cyanocobalamin to use myself - having somehow ordered both cyano and hydroxo, I find the cyano is less 'sting-y' when I inject, but that is entirely my own perception! I would agree that I need it more often than I do when I've used hydroxo, though, so although it's cheaper, I probably spend about the same as if I bought hydroxo. Both work, though!

Interesting to hear that spacey1 . ( about the stinging ) I knew that the Cynocobalamin worked by reading clivealive’s posts. Thanks for the info . Of course different people have different reactions . I for instance never experience Hydroxocobalamin stinging . Best wishes .

Are the 26g needles the insulin needles ?

Thans

wedgewood in reply toben1988

You can use a 26 G ( gauge - the needle width ) needle for insulin injection(sub - cutaneous) or for I.M (Intra Muscular ) BUT the length of the needle is different for the different injection methods. For insulin injections you need a short needle of about 1/2 inch, usually into the tummy . For I.M.injection, a longer needle is needed —1inch to 1 1/2 inch .

Ahhh ok Thankyou

So I can buy the 26g needle for IM injection

;)

Smaller needle the better lol

wedgewood in reply toben1988

You need a fine gauge needle -26G and the length should be at least 1 inch for IM

Hi

26g 13mm insulin needle would be suitable for IM?

Sorry for all the questions it’s my first time

Thanku

wedgewood in reply toben1988

13mm needle is too short for I.M. Injection . 26 G is a really fine needle and ideal, but it should be at least 1inch long (about 25 mm or longer , according to depth of skin and fat above the muscle that you are injecting into.) 13 mm is suitable for sub-cutaneous injection into the tummy. I inject I.M. into my thigh with a 1inch needle. (Middle outer third ) Best wishes .

I have found 25g 25mm orange hyperdermic needles ?

wedgewood profile image
wedgewood in reply toben1988

They would do , but I would try to get a finer needle if I were you . You can get 27gauge x 25 mm .Try another supplier .

wedgewood in reply toben1988

Yes those would be OK , but a finer needle would be more comfortable for you . But I used to use those until I found a finer needle with a higher gauge !

Brilliant answers above and just to add...

that finer needles than the blue 23G ones are more comfortable to use and are available from Exchange Supplies in Dorchester, who post to anywhere. I am currently using 26G ones for every day SI.

Well done! Good luck with getting your life back!
