Self inject novice

Hello everyone. I self injected for the first time without supervision. Seemed to go well; used a 1 inch 25 g needle. I was originally afraid that I would inject air but I think I managed not to do that. I used the left leg instead of the right in which the last 3 injections were done. I injected in the upper thigh area but noticed there was absolutely no blood that came out like with my previous injections with the nurse. Does this mean I didn't get it in the right place?

if you are saying that you had bleeding when the nurse did it then the nurse wasn't doing it right and was hitting a vein - hence the bleeding. If you get it right you shouldn't see any blood.

Hitting a vein could result in a bruise but otherwise isn't going to do any damage.

Congratulations. Sounds like you got it right the first time. This is a big step in building confidence.

Congratulations!! I only inject subcutaneously, haven’t dared IM. Hope you start to feel better and find a good balance. Don’t neglect to eat healthy, drink enough (2 litres)water a day and exercise when possible. Watch the other vitamins and minerals. There is a lot of very good advise on PAS website that will help you along.

I've tried IM and SubQ and prefer SubQ, I found the slower absorption rate lessens the nausea and side effects I get when injecting IM. Much less painful than IM too and no bleeding or bruising. I use smaller amounts more frequently and find this works best for me, everyone is different though!!

Hmmmmm. I’ll look into SubQ. Didn’t know that there were side affects with injection. Last time I injected I felt a little nauseous immediately after but I thought that it was just digestion issue from PA. Thanks for the information.

Ive found subq did help me in recovery and did the job but IM while a bit trickyer and more daunting was sugnificantly better at the job (especially once i got a bit better) ive done subq since but always wished id done IM when had... thats just me though both helped recover so i assume its not too important... swear theres a difference with IM :)
