Thanks for that link Sleepybunny it "mirrors" my 46 year history of P.A. and makes it simple to understand. Don't "agree" about hydroxocobamalin being my injection "of choice" as having been on cyano for 15 years before hydrox was introduced I simply couldn't "last" the three months intervals plus I had an allergic reaction.

yes - i wouldn't give it very high marks as a summary either - generally think it probably rates an F

Very sweeping statement that hydroxo is retained longer than cyano - on average it is but there is so much variation from individual to individual that it can't be assumed that any one person is likely to retain hydroxo longer as there are significant numbers of people who retain cyano longer.

Load of rubbish about three months being sufficient - though it manages not to say that by just saying that there is no evidence that larger doses help with neurological symptoms - gives the impression that the frequency is adequate when many of us know that for us it is far from adequate.

However, I've never really been that impressed with summaries prepared by NICE - the devil is in the detail that manages to get lost in a summary.

I wonder why cyanocobamalin is "weapon of choice" in America or has that changed?

I don't think the US really has a "weapon of choice" when it comes to treating B12 problems* - depends on the medic too much though cyano is the one that is generally used - there does seem to be a preference for methyl in some places - suspect it is more to do with where B12 is produced - most of the hydroxo seems to be produced in Germany - don't think there is much, if any, produced the other side of 'the pond'

*for everything else it seems to be Donald Trump
