Advice please

Hi

I'd like some advice please?

I'm looking to self inject and would welcome any advice on this. I believe there is somewhere in Germany I can buy this? Does anyone have any details of this? Also if I choose to do this do the doctors wash there hands of you or will they still monitor bloods etc?

Thank you

Jo xx

Will the doctors still monitor my bloods for other things or will they ignore it after self medicating? I don't want to fall foul of anything connected/else by not seeing a GP (worried about self medicating)?!?

Hi Jojo197 you may need to get your doctor to test your Folate level as this and B12 helps your iron to make red blood cells and to function properly.

Hi!

I have been SI daily for 2 and a half years now, to very good effect.

For more information you can look up my profile by double clicking on my name and scroll down to see my post "My Experiences". I do try to keep the information in it updated.

Any specific questions, please ask more.

Go for it! The idea is much worse than doing it and taking control of your life back and getting well again is amazing.

My Drs do know and I asked them directly to continue other support for me. I wanted it to be in my notes so I could get treatment if I ever had an accident and wasn't able to do my own jabs in hospital - although I never go anywhere without a few days supply and friends and family know what I need and where my ampoules are.

Hi

Thank you so much for your reply. Any information is really great for me. It all feels a little daunting but I'm sure self injecting is what I need to do.

Hi Jojo Wedgewood told me about the Versandapo chemist in Germany. My son is a surgeon and fortunately can speak German and he checked them out.I feel happy getting my supplies from them and have been using them with great improvement for several months nowI still get my scheduled injections from my GP to keep me on their radar.

Hello

Thank you so much for your reply it's been really helpful. Is it easy to order from the German website and how do I know I'm ordering the right one? Does it take long to arrive? Sorry for the questions it just feels a little daunting but I'm sure it's the right thing to do.

Hi Jo,Its really easy to order from them.If you go onto their site versandapo.de and click the icon for English at the bottom of the page. its a union jack ,then you can order in English.I ordered 100 ampules for £52, to save on postage, the expiry is November 2021 you can also get packs of 10.The ones I got were CYANOCOBALAMIN as this is the injection my doctor gives me and so I know I wont have any allergic reaction. The needles syringes snapper etc can be ordered off Amazon. My order from Germany took about 5 days.

Hi I use a 1ml insulin syringe which I find fine but others have said a larger one is better.I use a green 1.5 inch needle to extract from the ampule and a yellowish 1" one to inject.Check what type of B12 you are getting to make sure its the same before you order.I ordered 100 as I need to inject weekly. If your only doing once a month then this would be too much to buy at once.Make sure someone's with you the first time you inject. If you want to ask anything else feel free.

Hi jojo.

I order Hydroxo from Germany. It is exactly the same type that the NHS prescribe.

I have a German colleague who read the inserts for me just to double check.

I was taught to self inject by a nurse in the hospital and I just follow what they do so I draw up the B12 with a filter needle and change to a 1.25" needle to inject.

I think most people have their own way of injecting.

Not what you're looking for?
