Hi had bloods done as constant pins and needles in hands and feeling exhausted and results have shown blood cell enlarged and B12 190, my doctor wants to do more bloods in a month and see what results show but after looking on this site I have loads of similar symptoms!! Should I wait a month for more bloods ?? Any advise appreciated

It is important that your Folate level is monitored as this is essential to process the B12.

There is a complex interaction between folic acid, vitamin B12 and iron. A deficiency of one may be "masked" by excess of another so the three must always be in balance.

Symptoms of a folate deficiency can include:

symptoms related to anaemia

reduced sense of taste

diarrhoea

numbness and tingling in the feet and hands

muscle weakness

depression

Folic acid works closely with vitamin B12 in making red blood cells and helps iron function properly in the body and your B12 levels are "bumping along the bottom of the range.

You may have "Megaloblastic anemia which is characterized by red blood cells that are larger than normal. There also aren't enough of them. It's known as vitamin B-12 or folate deficiency anemia, or macrocytic anemia, as well. Megaloblastic anemia is caused when red blood cells aren't produced properly".

I am not a medically trained person but I've had P.A. (a form of B12 deficiency) for more than 45 years.

I wish you well Wendyr2010
