2 weeks ago I had blood tests ready a private appt with gastroenterologist. Once results ready I phoned GP and told £5 for a copy. Yesterday I went to pick up and told £10 but would give me them for £5 as already quoted. I politely said NO and didn’t collect. Had anyone else come across this?

Charge for copy of blood test results
That sounds a bit harsh for something that would cost little more than 30p including paper, toner and time
I’m charged 20p per sheet. If I were you I would ask to take a photo of the screen on your phone, quicker and easier than writing them down.
actually the charge is allowed to cover administrative costs and per the link provided by Marz below can be up to a maximum of £10. It should not be punitive.
This is likely to change and access is likely to become free of charge once the new GDPR (General Data Protection Rules) come into force inn May 2018
I’m charged £5 a time. I printed off all of my history once for £10 - loads of sheets compared to one! Waiting to speak to the lady who will enable access online......
My surgery would not give me a copy of my results for less than £10 per go. When you're trying to work things out and help yourself because the GP hasn't got got the time or the inclination it's infuriating, so I sympathise very much! I too very politely said no but they would not budge! In the end I took a whole copy of my entire medical history from childhood for £50. That made interesting reading and shed light on things that I had completely forgotten about.

Thanks for the website link Eaoz. I had a look at the page for our GP surgery and I hope they are a bit more up to date when medical records are included as there is one doctor listed who died six months ago. However his voice is still used as their answering service so perhaps they are looking to expand their service beyond into eternity.
It demonstrates very clearly the contractural arrangements between patients and the NHS in that the report, which is about your health, is ordered by the doctor on behalf of the practice and is therefore theirs. You don't own the information about yourself. It's a bit of a cheek as we have all, in one way or another, paid to keep the service running.
Some years ago I had a problem requiring laboratory work when living and working in France. I had already paid the GP for my 15 minute appointment and then had to pay the laboratory when I took in the sample; they called me a couple of days later and so I then went to collect the results and was given 2 envelopes, 1 with the top copy of the result form and the second with a carbon copy for the GP. I was the client of the laboratory, not the doctor. Had I been French or registered with their health system then I would have claimed back the consultation fee and the laboratory charge or whatever proportion of their cost my status entitled me to.
I am due to get the results of a blood test 3weeks ago this coming Friday morning. I think I might take a DSLR camera and a fast lens to be sure of getting a good screen shot. Seeing as how I came away from the first attempt by 2 nurses to fail to get a sample despite 4 punctures and then having to go to the phlebotomist for a fifth a week later I think they owe me something. As there hasn't been any urgency to get me and the results together then I am not expecting any significant changes.
I'm a doctor's receptionist and we have to charge £10. However it's not the receptionist please ask to speak to practice manager they set the prices not the poor girls in reception
