Am an elderly lady going thru chemotherapy for breast cancer after masectomy. My Vit B12 level is 2000 and folic acid above 24 bith v high. I do not have any drastic symptoms going thru 6th cycle of chemo although earlier I had suffered the usual fevers, runny tummy, nausea, slight vomiting. Have a very healthy diet mostly high protein also plenty veggies and fruit.
Wondering why my levels are so high while my Red Blood Count(RBC) and WBC low?
have you been put on folic acid at all - its quite possible as many chemotherapy drugs are known to interfere with folate so its prescribed at the same time - that would explain the folate - there are also some chemotherapy drugs that are known to interfere with B12 and sometimes people are given a B12 shot to counter this.
Really suggest that you talk to your doctor and get quite clear what treatments you have been given to establish that the high results aren't part of the result of supplements you have been given first.
