Hi everyone,

Do constant yawning is a symptom of b12 deficiency? and do they go away after supplementation?

Thanks

It could well be, as it is a sign of tiredness . But it would be accompanied by other symptoms . On its own, I wouldn't class it as a symptom of B12 deficiency .

Yes. i have most of the symptom of b12 deficiency. But because my diet was healthy so i thought i may not have b12 deficiency. Now i think a blood test for b12 would confirm it. Thanks.

I wouldnt say it was a single symptom of b12d but i had it prior to diagnosis. Yawning all the time trying to take in enough air to go into the blood, i found at this point i was breathing very, very shallowly. It went as soon as i got my b12 injections so personally i have to believe that the two were associated.

I was yawning uncontrollably for a very long time not understanding the reason. Since I have been injecting B12 the yawning has disappeared, so it might be a symptom. Have you checked other B12 deficiency symptoms?

Yes. i am also suffering from the same from past 2 years and was just pushing myself as everyone around me told that i am "lazy". it goes to a point where i no longer can push myself and now unable to work. And yes i have most of the symptom of b12 deficiency. Thanks.

I had a problem with yawning (and still do if I fall behind on self-injecting). I think it is my body's way of trying to get enough oxygen to the blood. I also found that I struggled to breathe sometimes - It was like I would 'forget' to take breaths if I didn't consciously try to do it and I'd struggle to take a full deep breath.

It did go away after supplementation but it took a long time (months). I also have to self-inject every 5 days (on top of my monthly injections at the doctor's) and take folate. So just be aware that supplementation might not be an instant fix, but could take a while. Good luck getting it sorted :)

its part of what is referred to as the sighs

yawning is a way that the body tries to get in more oxygen when your cells aren't getting enough - so it is also a common sign of anaemia but this isn't the only mechanism whereby B12 can lead to sighs and yawning and doesn't always go away.

yes. i also have this sign like deep breath with frequent yawning. my iron blood test was normal so i think now i have to go and check b12 also. Thanks

Yes my OH had constant yawning before regular b12 injections , now it only returns occasionally if his weekly jab a bit late , good luck .but I think the cure is frequent jabs .

I had terrible air hunger, called the ‘sighs’ when my b12 was low. Is it like that?
