Hi Kapat1 Perhaps it would be a good idea for you to read the following:

There is nothing in the letter to suggest or indicate that you may have P.A.

If you are really worried the only sure way of knowing is to ask your doctor to test your serum B12 and serum Folate to see if you are deficient in either and your Intrinsic Factor for antibodies but I guess he/she will have got a copy of your letter.

Personally I find Gaviscon a great help. You can buy it over the counter.

I wish you well.

Hi Clive alive thanks for the reply . I was diagnosed with PA in 2002 . I suppose I was expected AMAG when gastroscope was done but surprised when everything was normal! That's what I was wondering if it's possible to have PA when everything is normal?

Sorry Kapat1 I didn't know that you already had a diagnosis of P.A. from 15 years ago.

I've had P.A. for over 45 years which followed on from gastric surgery 13 years before in 1959 so I've "lived" with tummy troubles since the age of 17 but I'm still "clivealive" and over 75. :)

I'm no expert and I'm sure others will have their say, but from my short but wide reading recently I don't think I've seen anything that would suggest that PA always has to have AMAG, just that is is more common in people with PA - was your diagnosis definitely PA (IF antibodies present?) or B12 deficiency, as that widens the possible causes even more.

I guess you should see it as a positive that one possible 'nasty' has been ruled out for now :)

The only input I can make is that having had mild IBS symptoms for some time, I have found Colpermin quite helpful

Absolutely possible. I had 2 endoscopies, a barium swallow and a tube up my nose and down my throat for 24 hrs (can't remember the name) over the course of 10 years and all results were fairly inconclusive, and then I found out I had PA 😳
