Tinnitus!

I have a high whiny tinnitus which seems to come from my left ear (though sometimes it does feel like it's coming from the right too). I wondered if those others who have this could share whether they have it in one or both ears, and what have they found to be most helpful?

I have tinnitus in both ears; like you it's a high pitched whiny sound. You could try your GP as it may be an ENT problem. What works for me is attitude. I make an active decision not to think about it, talk about it, focus on it or allow it to affect me in any way and then get on with my life. It doesn't go away but it does enable me to cope! Hope you find ways to deal with it too. Now I must stop writing about it!

Yes, had my hearing tested but everything fine there. It doesn't really bother me too much, it's just there all the time.

I have tinnitus in one ear and strangely it is also my left. It appeared suddenly about 2 years before my formal P.A. diagnosis and has never gone away, although I'm sure it does tend to get louder when I get low in B12.

I've had scans and have seen an E.N.T specialist, but nothing untoward was found. (Apart from a slight loss of hearing in both ears, but that is thought to be age related) I was offered a hearing aid to try to mask it, but as it only really bothers me at night, when its quiet and I wouldn't be wearing the hearing aid then anyway, it seemed a bit pointless.

Hi,

yes it's in both ears, though left is much louder and it does increase in volume when jab due.

I use a radio for background sound when alone to help drown it out. I also try not to focus on it or it gets louder and more annoying.

Basically iv'e learnt to adapt to it, the worst bit is sometimes not being sure if it's the tinnitus or a real sound especially when in both ears.

Hi , I get tinnitus most of the time sometimes one ear sometimes both. Seems to be made worse at times by noise or stress so I try to avoid both. I did find that a few walnuts morning and evening helped to calm it down a little at one point but they now seem to upset my stomach so dont eat as often as I used to. Also get a noise like running water from time to time

All the best
