I am looking for a good video on self injecting B12 which explains everything. There appears to be a be so many and some have comments that the video is not correct. Has anyone found a good video that they could recommend please as at the moment even the thought scares me so I want to get as much information as I can. Thanks

Hi Carer999.

Sorry, don't have time to trawl through YouTube right now but this might do the trick:

m.wikihow.com/Give-an-Intra...

Just a couple of comments:

The first illustration give details of IM injection in the arm. The process is the same for injecting in the thigh and later on there's a diagram that shows the injection site for when injecting in the thigh.

Wiping with a sterile swab pre-injection - no evidence to suggest that this makes a difference - and alcohol from the swab can cause stinging when the skin is broken.

The Z Method (referred to towards the end). A little bit fiddly for those new to injecting. And any potential leakage from the injection site will be minimal when considering the amount injected - and this does not always happen. So, no problem missing this step out. Pausing before withdrawing the needle and withdrawing the needle slowly can help prevent this.

Potential bleeding from the injection site - this may occur if a vessel is nicked during the injection process (unavoidable and not a problem). If there is bleeding (or indeed, small leakage from the injection site), just cover the injection site with a clean tissue/piece of gauze and apply pressure for a short time).

Anyway Carer999 - hope this helps. Post again if you need anymore help.

Good luck 👍

Yes...all the way in, so the B12 gets delivered deep into the muscle.. Sounds like it should hurt, but it doesn't. The needles are very sharp and very thin. Thank goodness. 😄

Good luck Carer999.

Foggyme and Bengie that's the full length of the needle. So what is the best needle length to use?
