Hi. Is there a reason you have a support group for nothing thyroid and vitB? I'm just curious as Iv had part of my thyroid killed off, take 100 thyroxine. Recently felt exhausted and doc says Iv low folic acid. I'm trying to piece together a link. Iv also got tailbone pain which some days is so painful I take ibrufen. I'm only 39 and this has all come at once. I find docs useless unless you do your homework first!!!

Hi Kimple,

I'm sorry for the delay getting back to you. I have been away for a couple of days.

The reason our support group is for two conditions is that hypothyroidism and Vitamin B12 deficiency often go hand in hand. I think the figure is around 40% of those with hypothyroidism also have B12 deficiency.

As you are a member of this PA group, I'm assuming you have been tested as deficient in B12? A lot of people can't absorb B12 from supplements and need to take it sublingually or by injection.

When did your coccyx pain start? Common causes are childbirth and repetitive strain injury if you go in for sports such as rowing or horse-riding. Alternatively, can you remember any trauma to the area such as a fall? I'm assuming you are using a coccyx cushion. :-)

Not what you're looking for?
